TxSu, how much of the bank did y'all break?

Props to sTu if this comes into fruition. Someone that coached at a Texas high school, understand the landscape and a former aTm coach with ties to Kevin Sumlin appears to be a good choice. This will be interesting....

Y'all can start selling Labor Day Classic tickets now. and get a jump to market season tickets for Christmas gifts....

Cousin...bandfan is from here so idk WHERE he got that crap.

Southern has gotten away from Texas once the talent began to dilute. Even Grambling doesn't hit Texas up like they used to in masses. Remember there wasn't an Incarnate Word, UTSA, Lamar, HBU when those teams hit up Houston regularly. The days of a Clyde Edwards, Ryan Lewis ain't going to GSU and SU anymore nor will GSU go get a state championship QB at a LaMarque and wait for him to get eligible. Plus, PV started to have success and kept a lot of that talent home starting in 2008.

As a TSU alum the recent stars such as Cortez Hankton, Oliver Celestine, etc. were from Louisiana and the last great team at TSU had All-SWAC performers from:

Bruce Eugene signed with TSU before being let go of his scholarship but he was from New Orleans. We can go back to the Walter Highsmith days as he had some talent from Dallas and Houston but he had some legit Florida talent. The guys he got from Texas you can't get anymore thanks to the Prop 48 days, etc.

In basketball, folks don't care where they come from but in football folks want to recruit Texas for some reason. Texas is great but look at the tier of player we normally get when you can get a better player out of state. Alcorn has proven that.

Devante Kincade.

Grambling still recruits East Texas. Louisiana has just as many schools and a lot less people.

Coaches recruit were they are familar. A lot of our Coaches have been from places other than Texas.

It is a good old Boy network. Cowboy boots, skoal and a six pack of Bud will go a long ways in East Texas.

It is numerically impossible for us to get better players out of State than in State.
Louisiana for example.

Smaller Pool of players.

LSU, Tech, Southeast, etc. then Grambling, Southern, Alcorn.

Once they have finished eating, not much left in the pot for TSU.

Arthur Lockett, James Paul Bryant, Josh Simmons. All starters at PV in the last five years and went to Yates(5 min. walk from TSU) we did not even recruit.

This is just a small example, players are around we just have to find them.

Had to sit on Lockett a year and JP walked on while Simmons went JUCO.

People don’t recruit Louisiana as hard as Texas as PV’s success was due to that. You can get hard nosed player who has a chip on their shoulder. The typical suburban kid is a risk as they already have everything
