Morgan played defensive back, wide receiver, and running back for Langston during the 2004 and 2005 seasons. Before transferring to LU, he played at Jackson State from 2003-2004. He played high school football at Bonnabel High School in New Orleans, La. He played four seasons of professional football, three of those years with the San Angelo Stampede Express in the IFL Arena League and one season with the AF2 Iowa Barnstormers.

One of those losses came to Southern that was shortened by weather (they led in the game for a while) and the other was in the NAIA playoffs to a team that scored over 40 in 9 games (over 70 in 4 games)) during regular season but held them to 15 points.

He definitely will get some looks.

He was hired in the 70s. Had a great record. Its a much different day and age these days.

Your last 2 basketball hires were excellent choices. Both arrived with winning records at multiple D1 stops.

Believe it or not, Grambling's current basketball coach was a great hire as well. He brought a winning record with him. D2 tournament experience with a school with major financial problems

Long story short, players (and their HS coaches) know who is and who isn't. That should be taken into account when hiring coaches in this day and age

He did well in the 2000s too. Took a bunch of rec league players to the SWAC tournament if memory serves me correctly. To say Courtney left the cupboard bare is an understatement and what Moreland did that following season was nothing short or miraculous.

Reed cant get Tenn. State to the next level. What makes you think he can at Texas Southern?

This is precisely what I'm talking about. We keep reaching into an extremely limited candidate pool of current or former HBCU coaches. Sports are bigger than HBCUs.

If he can consistently get top HBCU recruiting classes @ TNSU, I'm sure he can do the same @ TXSU..

Still don't see the logic in this statement as TX & LA are fertile recruiting grounds.

Reed had to constantly dip into to FL & GA to get the talent he really wanted

Texas is fertile for EVERYONE. The competition for the talent is ridiculous. TxSU has some talent but they aren't getting the guys up front that they need and aren't getting the number of good quality transfers a school like TnSU gets, although their best player this season was a Kansas grad transfer WR.
