Jackson State vs Arkansas-Pine Bluff: Game Updates - 2:30pm CT

CONGRATULATIONS JSU!
I don’t care what you or anyone else says, you are a force to recckon with, and it is VERY unwise to count you out! The Blue Bengals NEVER give up, and today they did a tremendous job on the comeback!
Best wishes going forward this season and the Lord Jesus bless the Tigers and supporters with traveling Grace and arrival mercy!

@96lioness: You guys have a very good young QB along with Receivers who were catching just about everything thrown their way as well as a Punter/Kicker who on any other day I understand is usually can't miss! That being said, I think the future of your football program is bright!!

I don't recall hearing Terrell Kennedy's name called today! Does anyone know if he made the trip with the Team?

Thank you Mace!

Yes, Skyler is a true freshman QB. If his mother didn’t just happen to sit by me 2 weeks ago at the UAPB/PV game, I wouldn’t have known he was playing with a hurt shoulder (injured during that death game against SDSU), and he got hit in the same shoulder against the Panthers. I saw his mother tonight and she said he’s still taking treatments and therapy. He got the nod to start when Shannon Patrick (our starting QB) broke his thumb during the CU-TN game.

And yes, he has a good arm. The reason why our receivers caught his passes today was because our #7 (Tyrin Ralph) dropped every single pass thrown to him during the PV game. Coach Thomas has stated before that he will play any player regardless of starter or classification who can produce, so
our RB Taeyler Porter (#2), and WR Kolby McNeal (#5) got the nod.

Lastly, I’m not a betting woman, but if I were, I’d ALWAYS put my money on Jamie Gillan! He is an OUTSTANDING kicker and has already broke a school record. This was the first time since he’s been with us that he’s had a bad game. However, I wish I could have told him about Jackson State. People at the game were ready to have him kicked off the team. I had to tell them that JSU is notorious for blocking our FG attempts and in return will go for the fake on the 4th and execute successfully. I’ve seen them do it to us so many times that I wasn’t surprised when it happened the first couple of times. Yes, JSU probably set a record on blocked FG attempts today, but it didn’t surprise me. I just wish someone would have let Jamie know......but experience is the best teacher and I bet he won’t ever forget Jackson State University.

But I wouldn’t trade him for none of the tea in China! He just had a bad day.

LOL. Man I figured you were going down that road. We will see. Yall may not be as sorry as you think. The conference is just weird this year.

There is definitely parity in the Swac this season. Any given Saturday for most teams. We got rid of 4 offensive coaches (we will get better efficiency as the season progresses) and started a new QB so this outing was to be expected. PB definitely has an offense and will beat some people. Comparing games against other conf opponents is never a good idea. Its all about matchups.

How do we define Parity? Because I am not seeing good football in general. Honestly, it appears PV is the only team I have seen good football from.

Meaning I don't see a huge difference in talent as everybody is either mediocre and do not have capable QBs. PV has definitely been playing the best ball so far but even they are beatable (GSU missed about 3 FGs against them). But you are definitely right about the caliber of football being played this season. I've seen BAD football play.

It was not a poorly played game. Nice play designs from PB and we finally pieced together some good plays. I've seen some low scoring snooze fest. MEAC football comes to mind..

I wouldn't be shocked if PB upset some people especially if they play better defense.

I hope we are ready for screens going forward. They hurt us with RB and WR screens just about every time we blitz. We lack quality depth on defense. Also we have to find a way to get off the field on 3rd downs. No offense should have 90 plus snaps a game against a decent defense. We have to do a better job converting third downs on offense as well. We got a lot of work to do so hopefully we see improvements every week.

I'm just saying sweetie, i don't think anyone wants to watch such.........a heartbreaking performance from both teams. It may make someone cry. IJS.

If anyone is heartbroken, it’s me. Nevertheless, I take the good with the bad, and even the ugly, because I love my school. And I’ve been on the Forums long enough to know you’re the same way when it comes to Jackson State University.

My boys played well; we lost but this was the best game I’ve seen them play this season. We have a bye coming up this weekend, so hopefully the guys can heal, re-group, re-charge and re-strategize. We still have Valley and AAMU left, along with 3 divisional giants to face. I’ll be honest and admit I think the remaining 5 teams will beat us (I could be wrong). If, and that’s a big IF, that's the case, I sure would love to see my boys make them EARN those wins! If you want this win, you gone have to take me down cuz I ain’t bout to lay down and give you nuthin’! That’s the mentality I’d settle for now with my folks.
