LSU Basketball Player Killed

I can care less about a damn game with LSU. You are the only one in here making a big deal about it just because a LSU student-athlete decided to get in a fight near SU's campus that resulted in his death.

You all need money games. I'd rather LSU play a money game and the money stay in BR.

Maybe you should protest to the City of Baton Rouge to provide more lighting and security along Harding Blvd. It's not SU's FISCAL responsibility to do such.

Technically you're right but it's good business for SU to work with the businesses in its immediate area to help aid the safety of all.

Y'all need to get over this. That guy was at a Southern function in the (rap concert) gym.

Hell, y'all act like if his body dropped on Southern University and A&M College grass that's only considered ON CAMPUS.
Concert was over hours before this happened. He left and came back to a off campus party.

I understand SU is your school but it's common for brawls and shootings to occur around SU's homecoming. And, most of it isn't SU's fault. Yet in still SU's home game experience is hella ghetto. And, I'm not taking that back.
Not on campus. It’s very safe on campus. Now if you are off campus all bets are off.

This happens with Grambling as well.

A young man was killed at a club in Grambling. Yet, at the same club when Willie Nelson comes the club is magically in Ruston.

If you read my comments I said it's not solely SU's fault for the crime on their campus. SU needs more campus cops and better lighting. You're really insecure.

How many campus cops does SU have? How many more would have prevented this killing? How many more do they need to hire?

What additional lighting does SU need? What types of lighting? Where?

Since you're aware of all of these needs, claim to be ”from Scotlandville”, seemed to be ”concerned” about this incident, I can assume you have called, written, or met with your representatives about addressing these needs. No?

Or is this just another opportunity for you to denigrate Black people and their institutions?

No boo the shame is on you black parents not teaching your kids to value life and how to act in public, how to go out and enjoy a party/concert...The Shame is black people not looking out for each other...The Shame is that, that kid died because he was kicking that cowards ass, another pussy ass $$$$$$ probably with an unlicensed weapon...maybe next year have your concerts in the afternoon since the underivable like to show up cause problems NEAR your campus...Rolling My DAMN EYES!

Apparently Black people actually do look out for each other because, according to the link that @JAG89 posted, Wade Sims was killed when he got involved in a fight between his friend and the suspect. Wade Sims didn't die "because he was kicking that coward's ass"......he died because he looked out for another Black person and chose to engage in a fight that DID NOT involve him.

All 10 of us (SWAC) have had things like this happen, and usually the culprit(s) don't even attend our universities. It's time that we Black people take the advice you posted and look out for each other and not be so quick to assassinate each other or our HBCUs; the press does that enough already...……...or at least they try to!

My oldest child graduated from Southern after being there on campus for 4 years. The only time I ever feared for the safety of my child was in 2012 when Hurricane Isaac hit, and that was because I didn't know how close EBR Parish was to Plaquemine Parish (where the damage first hit).

From the link:

Police said Sims had stepped into a fight early Friday to help a friend who was clashing with Simpson.
That friend has to be feeling really bad right now knowing his friend died trying to help him in a fight. Too bad both parties couldn't have resolved their conflict in a healthy manner to avoid a situation like this. It's something I try to preach to my students daily about conflict resolution and trying to avoid physical confrontations.

It happened a couple of times while I was at TSU; including a freshman getting murdered in my on-campus apartments. Also, before coming to TSU, I had a roommate/high school classmate murder someone outside of my room window with one of my baseball bats because of a fight (while I was at a white school). These things happen everywhere...Both on-campus and off-campus.

You do know there are more arrest at LSU games than at SU games right?? drunk, fighting etc. Pull up clips and I can show you a bunch of LSU fans fighting one another. So what's there game experience like??

LSU game experience isn't ghetto??

What gets me, this was a LSU kid fighting local kids that had nothing to do with Southern, but it's the atmosphere at Southern's homecoming that made them act a fool. Doesn't that sound just like White folks???

Sounds like white folks because they pander to white folks.

I don't take any of these token negros serious. Sad smh Lol.

Tailgating at Greek houses and on the LSU Parade Ground for Greeks and other student groups will be banned for the rest of the football season because of a lack of security, officials said Tuesday.

The revamped rules stem from the news that Lofton Security is ending its coverage.

"Lofton has informed the university that it will no longer provide security for tailgating at Greek houses," Angela C. Guillory, associate dean/director of Greek Life, said in an email to chapter presidents and others.

"No other security is willing to provide this service," Guillory wrote.
