You Southern people get in here and explain why this kid who came over to party with you guys for your homecoming had to die in the process...SMDH!

Why does this have to be a SU issue? Could it not be a BR issue? Praying for the Family

I'm saying. The Advocate and new stations in BR already running with trying to make it a Southern issue and now we got people on here doing the same. A 20 year old lost their life yet the powers that be are trying to use it to smear another school

It’s not an SU issue but another black on black murder issue. It just happened on su campus (officially off campus) after the homecoming concert and it was an LSU player. So of course the headline is Lsu player kill on Su campus. I was just on campus last night for the su lab football game. As I was leaving campus the mini dome was pack which is where the concert was being held and subway is a 15 second drive across the street from the stadium from the mini dome

So using your logic, LSU should be held responsible for the rape of an LSU student that happened just recently. Certainly this incident proves that LSU has a problem with sexual assault and can't effectively protect their female students.

Actually, this did not happen on Southern's campus as the media is trying put it. Everything south of Harding Blvd. is outside of Southern's campus. This is more of a Baton Rouge problem than a Southern problem, since Southern University's campus police do not patrol those businesses. IMO, the City of Baton Rouge has failed both Southern and LSU when it comes to the well being of student lives and we all know how Baton Rouge's police department loves going after LSU's Black football players after some altercation they had in a white establishment. A lot of Baton Rouge's police officers live in Livingston Parish, which is just east of East Baton Rouge Parish. Anybody from Baton Rouge should know the racist past of Livingston Parish and former KKK Imperial Wizard Bill Wilkinson who now lives in Belize as a hotel resort owner.

The kid was involved with questionable individuals out of the Banks neighborhood southeast of the SU campus.

The kid was involved in questionable individuals in the area particularly in the Banks neighborhood.

So you are saying that the LSU basketball player was involved with troubled individuals that had nothing to do with Southern University??? It sounds like he came to Southern for the homecoming concert with troubled individuals and had gotten killed just ouside of campus. As I previously stated, this is more of a Baton Rouge problem than a Southern University problem.

The Subway is between the Delta Building and Kappa house, are NOT on the campus. That's BR jurisdiction, although physically its across the street from the tennis courts and Seymour Gym. That's as "near Southern University" as you can get.

Just like ole boy who got shot in them projects next to the Lab School but died near the Lab school, it's proximity.

Also, it's almost a slam dunk that NO SOUTHERN STUDENT killed the boy.

This what America does. It's the same for the Magic city classic. Some gets killed in Birmingham AL every day but when it's classic weekend it's the Magic city classic fault.

Yup. They do that for Bayou Classic and JUST started doing that with Essence.

Why is it a Southern issue? Was this on Southern’s campus? Was the student who killed him a Southern student?

Hell there were serial killers near LSU but they never labeled them “LSU Serial Killers”....

SMH

It sounds like another LSU athlete who was caught up in a troubled life style. It makes one wonder how LSU screens its athletes. It is a sad situation that he ended up dead. Maybe Southern should ban LSU's athletes from attending functions on its campus for the school safety and its students.

It may not have been on SU’s campus, but we all have some ignorant MF’s who come to our towns every Homecoming bring nothing but bullshit and drama. We all know it. Grambling, Norfolk State, FAMU, and now SU have all had something like this happen during homecoming weekend the past few years...and we know it’s not our students causing these problems for the most part.

I do get frustrated with news organizations(and I work in news) tying our universities to the violence that happens during weekends like this...as if it’s the university or students fault.

DCG, my Third Coast Sister, please be careful with this. If a similar situation happens here in Houston, you know as well as I do, that it will be made to look like it is TSU's fault. Hell, if someone gets shot at vacant lot (next to Frenchy's) at the corner of Scott St. and Wheeler Ave., it will be made a Texas Southern University problem, and not a University of Houston problem. Hey, I'm just saying. But anyway, so sorry to hear about what happen to this young man.
