How much pregame promotion (signage/radio/TV) do any of you recall seeing/hearing leading up to the Celebration Bowl Saturday?

I have an idea what the answer is, but I 'm looking for confirmation.

@Kenn Rashad You KNOW you cant just start a topic like this and then get mad at people for snickering. Come on man! You grown. LOL

Now, I will say this regardless of the answers you get. ALL of us are the problem. I have yet to go to a Celebration Bowl so I am among the ones to blame. However, I went to a lot of SCGs even when JSU was not in it. When Alcorn went the first year, Alcorn took the LEAD in the SWAC showing up. I heard that MANY SWAC alums came to support Alcorn or the game itself but I also know a LOT of JSU fans who went WITH Alcorn fans. If GSU fans are not even excited about going to see their team, that drowns out the excitement of others. Im sure the A&T fans were shocked to look across the way and see the GSU side empty from the Mighty SWAC and the Mighty GSU, The Icon of Black College Football. However, at the end of the day (I got that from Love and Hip Hop), we ALL need to celebrate the Celebration Bowl and commit to attending.

But also, Grambling has got to do better.

Now, I hope you get the answers you seek. :D:D:D

Promotions? I remember seeing signs downtown. I don't recall seeing any TV promotions. But I did hear several radio spots.

I missed the first Celebration Bowl [stuck at the damn car repair shop when I only went in for an oil change-UGH]. Last year's celebration bowl, my babygirl had a birthday party. This year I finally made it, my A&T brotha gifted me a ticket.

I've been to NUMEROUS SWAC championship games before it left Legion Field. When it comes to my favorite HBCU teams, my list is SWAC-heavy. And the radio spots for the past 2 weeks were advertising Buy 4 Tickets for the Price of 3....but have y'all seen those ticket prices...YIKES...I know, I know, new stadium, HIGHER COSTS. But dayum.

As far as the Grambling turnout, I'm looking at them being on the road back-to-back-to-back and leading right up to the Christmas holiday. Thats a lot of $$$ for folks to come up with - gas food hotel not to mention the drive [or flying for some]...that can be A LOT.

A&T being only 5 hrs down the road, had not played since BEFORE Thanksgiving AND they were [and remain] UNDEFEATED so I knew the crowd would be mostly A&T. I don't think they brought this many folks the last time that they played SC State in Atlanta for those last 2 Atlanta Football Classics.

Not sure how much promotion ESPN does for the game...or how much they do for any other bowl games that they sponser [IF ANY?].

I did see some other SWAC members throughout the crowd.

Another thing I noticed, NO VENDORS were allowed inside the stadium. In fact, I didn't even realize any vendors were there until we left the game - they were OUTSIDE. Interesting.

At any rate, great win for the Aggies...congrats on being UNDEFEATED and congrats to both A&T and the Tigers on a great 2017 season.

Thanks for the response. While, I'll admit I wasn't very specific for my reasons in asking the question, there was a reason for it. I will probably go into it later.

.

You would have a point if they flooded Houston..... cant speak for New Orleans.

I don't listen to the radio anymore so not sure, but I did see it on social media not sure of the reach though. Would need to see the facebook/instagram insights. I went to the game and sat in section 129 (Gram ya'll fans are old LMAO... joking). I had fun though.

After leaving, I thought they need to make this some type of HBCU reunion. I saw all types of HBCUs represented. The game has potential, but it can't rely on just the 2 schools.

Mercedes Benz-Stadium is REAL nice! You can come to the game and be anywhere in the stadium and not miss any action from the game. Flats screens everywhere, food is cheap and you have options! I had access to the Delta Skyclub. Not sure about the other side but this area was extremely nice!!!!

This game will never have 40, 50k+ attendance this close to Christmas, especially with GSU involved (jury is out on SU but highly unlikely also). That's not a shot at anybody...it's just reality.

It's also not going to have masses of HBCU alums from other schools either. Some will attend, some won't. It is what it is.

Hell of alot. There were promos on WSBTV, V-103, Gospel station 102.5, and a few others. Running constantly. Hell, I got tired of hearing all the promos. I was ready for the game by Wednesday.

OK, so my point is this. I understand (and hopefully most of you do too) that this is an ESPN owned event. It is a made for TV event. The focus isn't on whose in attendance, but who is watching on TV. However, such events always present opportunities for sponsorships and community support.

So, who's gonna sponsor the CB after the Air Force contract runs out? And I thought about all this 3 years ago.

And yes. There was ALOT of tv promo, because of WSBTV picking up the game.
