Mr. Know It All do you think that ANY school in the SWAC right now has the cache to demand a home and home with a JMU, NDSU, SHSU, etc.? The simple answer is no

Grambling is on their way there if they can continue to stay ranked for a couple of years IF Fobbs stays there. NCAT is heading there as well. These schools can afford to pay our "big" schools in the SWAC to do a one way home game but you wanna try to bring Valley up when your school did the same damn thing. SHSU did it with PV because they know PV will bring a crowd but they know they won't bring any type of crowd to PV
just 3 years ago bama state had a home and home with sam houston...did they make y'all sign a one game deal or did y'all agree that. if you're going to take a fbs butt whooping can it at least be an official fbs team that gives it to you? how much did y'all get for that game anyway? savannah state got oklahoma state to give them something like 385k. if you took less to get beat to death by ndsu...well, that on y'all.

I want one of these 3 on our schedule, that's the only thing missing from our schedule. A team that really defines how good we are or are not. Northwestern Sucks, Tulane is FBS and Clark was DII.. I wanna see us play a James Madison. I really believe we can compete and win

I wouldn't want to see them this year. We need to schedule one of the FCS powerhouses when we know we are going to have serious returning weapons for that year.

IMO, it depends on the match-up...from what I’ve seen of A&T in their past two games, I’d say no for the most part.

I remember the FAMU playoff teams and we basically dominated teams throughout both of those seasons. A&T’s schedule to start the season wasn’t terribly tough...Shaw, Mars Hill, Delaware State...Charlotte is an FCS a team pretending to FBS...then A&T runs up against SCSU, an underachieving FAMU, and an under achieving BCU and then they finally had to work for a victory...which they did.

Now I’m not trying to sound like a hater...A&T is probably capable of beating somebody in the playoffs...but, they need that killer instinct.

I don't know if it's quite as simple as that, 662. I'm of the opinion that SWAC schools do have "the cache" to schedule home and home games with schools like JMU, NDSU and SHSU. The bigger question, however, is does it make "cents" for SWAC schools to schedule such schools? As much as I would love to see Grambling play someone like NDSU, JMU or SHSU, because I know what those teams bring to the table in terms of quality of play, those matchups mean NOTHING to the average fan. And the average fan, depending on where they are traveling from, is not going to make the trip to Grambling to watch James Madison.

I don't know fans want to see a game. Now we will lose because those teams will bring Zero fans but I think people will drive from Houston Dallas and New Orleans for a challenge

I understand this as well. Our fans aren't at the point of showing up to fill up the stands no matter the opponent. That's what makes being an AD in the SWAC a challenge

The same can apply to the MEAC. A&T fans didn't travel to Richmond last year at all (Richmond fans didn't care either apparently with only 3300 fans)

That's why I think our ADs have to up their game. They've got to get our fans out of the mindset of being walk up ticket purchasers and get them to buy season tickets. We are going to have to support our programs when they play samford or mcneese not just when jsu, southern, tn state et al are on the schedule. Part of that can be holding some game tickets hostage as part of a flex package. Want that Tuskegee game ticket? Well you're going to have to get it as part of the 3 game flex package that includes tx southern, and kennesaw state. Same for basketball. The other part is work with season ticket holders and allow them to make payments all off-season so there isn't a big hit from the purchase of several tickets. I'm just spit ballin' and tell you what I've seen other athletic departments do, but like 662 said, I'm a know it all who doesn't know anything about athletic admin, but that makes sense to me.

Whenever someone says or writes, "I'm not trying to...," they usually are doing as such.

Yeah... That Thanksgiving weekend is a tough sell for FCS fans as a whole, sans those who are attending the Bayou Classic.

I totally disagree. I think it says a lot about a program that has only seen 3 or 4 winning seasons in the past 15 or 16 years. As for beating "quality" teams, I think the results speak for themselves. They lost to N.C. Central (a quality team) by 6 points. They beat a quality BCU team by 2 points and beat all of their other weaker MEAC opponents by margins that a stronger team should beat weaker teams. Consider the fact that the MEAC is arguably a stronger conference than the SWAC from top to bottom, Howard is a SOLID team.

Up until this year Howard was the Jackson State of the MEAC. And if Howard were to play Jackson State right now, Howard might have to boycott for a running clock, because they would beat the dog shit out of J-State...right TP? *snicker*

*SNICKER*

It would be hard for them, most of these FCS teams are full of transfers from power 5 schools. I know Jacksonville State almost beat Auburn couple years back and come to find out they had transfers from everywhere including Auburn. It'll be hard but can't see them winning the whole thing
