I can't believe we let TxSU of all schools take over the conference for basketball smh.

Don't matter tho Bama State will regain that #1 spot. We are after all the basketball school of the SWAC.

LOL. Bama State actually has decent basketball attendance compared to the rest of the SWAC schools .... but I think it's mostly due to the band always being there. But Bama State hasn't been relevant in basketball since the 2000s and based on my research ... that's not gonna change.

A lie don't care who tell it.

I knew sTu was going to be a consistent winner for SWAC regular/conference tournament titles when Davis took over. It was a knockout hire. Along with my prediction, I expected him to have the best SWAC performing program in the post season since SU's 1993 squad. Shockingly, sTu hasn't performed well in the NCAA tournament. If they represent the SWAC this year, I hope they represent well.

Different programs have different goals. The "SWAC Ceiling" isn't that high in the NCAA Basketball world in this era. If sTu is a true "minor-major" division I basketball power, then it's time to shoot for better showings in the post season. Good luck to the Tigers because unlike plenty teams in the SWAC, sTu wins games outside of the conference and usually has an attractive looking overall record. I hate sending 11 or 14 win teams to the tourney. We shall see what happens this year as many SWAC coaches are starting to improve their recruiting skills.

Don't sleep on Bama State. They play "big boy" ball in the paint when ever they have some size. They might be doing that this year.

Most teams play big boy ball but the problem Bama State is not good at it. Hence no big victories (like when we defeated #24 Michigan State in Michigan in 2014), no SWAC Championships (we're defending champs), and no NCAA Tourney Bids (we've had the most bids since 2010).

I'm expecting maybe two other teams to be competitive for the title this year ..... that's Southern University and ?.

I thought the new state-of-the-art basketball arena in Itta Bend would immediately help MVSU with recruitment. It looks like that's not the case. They were better when they had a dingy and outdated gym.

Man this is crazy!!!!

GSU winning the SWAC. LOL...

I'm homing in on my TigerPrideness right now. LOL

Um everybody knows Grambling is TERRIBLE in basketball. I heard Gallot recently say on a radio sports show he wants Grambling to be more than just a football school and wants to revive basketball so apparently it's still dead.

Wait you took my post serious.....LMAO!!!!! Let me rephrase....

Sounding like TigerPride from JSU .....GSU will win the SWAC trophy!!!!

Looking forward to this season. Last year our entire starting lineup (plus others) was hurt outside of Specks but we still finished the season respectable. We get all of those guys back and we've added 4 quality xfers whom, if they can duplicate their junior college success, will be hard to deal with. Definitely should be Brent's best offensive team to date barring any major injuries.

I'm just listening to Mike Davis's media day teleconference call and he doesn't sound enthusiastic about the season as he did in the past. Sometimes, I think he battles depression. Some days he's really enthusiastic and likable and other days he's not.

Must be nice having a president that gives a damn about ANY sport...

I picked up the Athlon magazine NCAA basketball preview magazine today and immediately read the SWAC section. The majority of our teams are banned from the postseason because of APR issues.

We gotta do better smh

Sometimes you actually make some sense while other times you sound like a clown. This time is the latter.

Just remember that one of those SWAC Ls TSU took last year came in blowout fashion on national TV.

Preseason polls are just that. Preseason. Let's see how things shake out by March
