Why do black parents continue to send their athletic children to HOSTILE predominantly white univs?

There are two white schools my son is interested in and that's the Navel Academy and West Point.
I do not know about the naval Academy but I KNOW West Point is racist. My oldest friend's oldest son went there and he wanted so bad to quit but his father made him stay there. His brother was thinking about going and he told him in no uncertain terms.....Do Not Come Up Here!

He understands and he said if the military is the option he wants to go to the best.

Let's be honest....racism is going to be at every non-HBCU. There is no escaping it. It's really sad...just simply sad.

His dream is playing for GSU.

It's time for the great migration yall! Let's make it happen!
"The Great Migration" requires stronger parental involvement and community mentor-ship. This generation is so impressionable and sensitive to mainstream ideas. The quickest, but maybe most difficult, method is through athletics. The commitment from one class of top black athletes to HBCUs could spark this initiative...... Maybe I'm a DREAMER.

It was their Prep School and their General took care of the situation. You will never escape hatred and racism. You have to leave the house (our community) sometime in life.

The Naval Academy which I am a Blue and Gold Officer for in my reserve time, is not perfect. But they don't tolerate it. No more than the other Service Academy. There are more Black Officers in the Army than any branch. Have some West Point friends from HS who graduated from there and had no issues.

Unless we are ready to isolate ourselves from society then you will encounter it. Even if you go to a HBCU, you can't stay there forever. Eventually you got to deal with the rest of the world.

Naval Academy Football is at an all time high. LOL. If his goal is to serve the military then the Service Academies should be on his list. Then schools with ROTC programs of the service he wants to go to. Sadly most college coaches do not like their College Football Players in ROTC taking away from their practice time. So if he wants to play football and get ready for the military. The service academies are the right choice. One thing you do know. They aint going to use him for athletics and throw him out on the street when eligibility is up. If he is there 4 years. He will graduate.

You've got to breed the love of hbcus into your children. I got my kids on alcorn's campus only once b/f we left the state of mississippi. My oldest daughter has a 4.7 & 30 act and thinks sec schools have colder ice than hbcus ... so that's my fault. Now we are in clemson and everything here is orange and purple, but I'll make sure my other children are well exposed. Going to see the clemson vs. tx so basketball game in november and we will make a few regular trips down to orangeburg to see sc state. by the way some of y'all need to get on the line and get your ad to bring your squad up here. I'd much prefer to watch some swac football.

Okay, so since your friends had no issues there is no racism....okay I get it.

This is the same argument white bigots make. You had a Black president so there is no racism.......o_O

I can't get upset at a top notch athlete going to a school with all the resources and connections to get him into the pros. Hell, most of our schools cant even shake the APR bug, much less provide the nutrition and training programs at Power 5 schools.

Its the non-athlete with the 3.7 GPA and 25+ ACT scores passing up HBCU scholarships to take out loans at PWIs.

No pride!

Don't you have many kinfolk who sent their kids to those places? You can ask them why.

I remember every year you had a kinfolk going to one of those schools (using your words) with "superior coaching, facilities, and academics." Lol
Riiiiiiiiiiiight, every single year duhhhhh lol. I don't speak to them. Why don't you ask them for me? And post those results here so all of us can read them.

:D

Going pro from a big school is overrated because to be honest a lot of time your on the radar if you are a big time high school recruit

I have seen scouts ask for a transfer who has yet to play a down on our level just because they remember them from high school

In basketball, big-time recruits flop all the time but still go to the NBA based off potential. They are not getting better in one year because they are in the ACC. They come in already ready to play. Anyone can coach that.
