Not one consecutive home game. I blame the SWAC office.
PV don't have consecutive home games. Basically 2 home games in September and 1 in October and the other in November.
Dam that was 25 plus years ago...

So 20 years ago!No! AMMU entered the SWAC in 1999 and UAPB reentered the SWAC in 1997!

Hey so I'm a little late...............we play Southern again in Jackson? Not complaining, just wondering what the reason is.
With Grambling and Texas Southern rolling off JSU's schedule in 2017, this left JSU possibly with 3 home games. Since JSU played Southern in New Orleans in 2004 and Baton Rogue in 2005, the SWAC decided to give JSU's it's home game back. Traditionally before 2005, JSU played Southern in Jackson odd numbered years.

I just don't like the fact that JSU is travelling to Alabama to play them at a so-called neutral site. IMO, a much better neutral site would have been anywhere in Mississippi. JSU could have played them in Shreveport, LA and used the game as a means to recruit Northwest Louisiana an Southeast Texas. Playing them in Mobile, AL is like giving Tuskegee somewhat a home game. We played Winston-Salem State University in Shreveport one year, but I could never see us playing them in North Carolina, unless they decide to move back up to the FCS level.

So you are comparing Mobile, AL that is a lot further from Jackson, MS to Shreveport, LA? Last I checked, I do believe Shreveport and Mobile are about the same in size with Shreveport being a lot closer to a larger Metropolitan area (Dallas-Fort Worth). Now JSU has to travel to Tuskegee's home state to play them. It's like putting a FCS on the same level of a D2 school. In some cases, it's confusing to high school recruits when it comes to FCS HBCUs and D2 HBCUs, which is why schools like Tuskegee and WSSU try to recruit individuals away from us (FCS HBCU) by saying there is no difference between us and them. IMO, there should be a distinct difference between the two, which helps high school recruits see the difference for themselves. If D2 HBCUs want to start calling shots, they need to step up to the FCS level.

Mobile is actually closer to Jackson By a few minutes. You'd know that if you actually looked it up instead of assuming you know what you're talking about while also trying to make this thread about something it's not. If you feel so strongly about what FCS & D2 does with their scheduling etc., go make a thread about it. This one is specifically for JSU's schedule. Thanks for your concern tho.

Also, a lot of individuals from D2 HBCUs think that all HBCUs should play on the D2 level so that their schools can reap the benefits of more televised games and large classic/bowl games that FCS HBCUs play. They really started screaming this right after the SWAC and MEAC conferences agreed to play the Celebration Bowl as a means of determining the HBCU National Champions.

Okay, Mobile, AL is closer to Jackson, MS than Shreveport, LA by a few miles. Answer this for me wise guy, which is closer to Shreveport, LA, Jackson, MS or Tuskegee, AL??? And Tuskegee will be playing in their home state. I'm glad JSU is happy with this, because IMO, it's like giving Tuskegee a little shine time on the backs of FCS HBCUs like they did with FAMU this past season. Nothing against JSU if ya'll want to do that, but I really hope this does not become the norm in HBCU football, which is what schools like Tuskegee and WSSU are pushing. I'm glad Broadway at NCA&T was able to tell WSSU to move back up to the FCS level if they wanted a home and home series with them, otherwise they need to come to Greensboro, NC every time and be happy that they are playing a FCS program.

Well that wasn't your first argument was it? You were wrong and corrected so take it and move forward. Yes it's their home state, which we also recruit well in if you paid attention to any of our classes. As I said, this thread is about JSUs schedule. Move along.....

And like I previously stated, good for JSU, but I hope this doesn't become the norm. IMO, D2 HBCUs should be striving to become FCS and not the other way around. Some of them been in the business of football longer than most and if they haven't figured out yet on how to move up to gain more exposure, than they shouldn't ask FCS HBCUs to move down. I tell you, Black folks love doing azz backwards sh!t. I'll be the last to advocate for their all D2 HBCUs cause. I've said this once before, it's like mixed income housing. Mofos who don't work can live the same lifestyle of those who bust their azzes and work everyday. That's the craziest crap HUD could have ever created.

It doesn't matter. They are not required to meet the same NCAA Title IX standards. And because of that, we should not lower our standards in order to give them more exposure. If they want equal treatment on a consistent basis, they should move up to the FCS level. Otherwise, they should stay at the D2 level and be thankful that FCS HBCU programs are giving them a chance to display their football talent on the next level. Also, if Tuskegee has a FCS caliber football team, that should be more than enough reason for them wanting to move up, but the caliber of their football team might not be the same once they realize that they would have to reallocate a lot of their resources to other athletic programs in order to meet the NCAA Title IX standards for FCS programs.

Nice Schedule and i agree with JSU taking the show on the road. Playing in Mobile is actually smart because you are allowed to play and recruit in areas you rarely play in. Just hope JSU beats Tuskegee because they will be bragging for years to come, Tuskegee fanbase is very cocky and arrogant.
