I don't think anyone has ever said it was easy, but I think some of our ADs (and even presidents) make the process more difficult than it has to be. Regardless, this is part of the job, if one isn't up to it, than being an AD may not be the job for you.

Based on some of the comments I've read from Lonza Hardy (UAPB's AD) I wouldn't be surprised if he and MVSU hook up, if they aren't already scheduled to play actual conference games.

Well for years jsu has only had to schedule 1 ooc game since their game with TnSt was always a given. Now they have to schedule 3 and can't seem to know how to do that.

@Kenn, do you know if this is a home and home like the Alcorn and stu games are?

I mean this in no disrespect to any particular school, but these are the problems we run into when we hire ROOKIES in athletic administrations and treat our programs as proving grounds (or rest haven for unqualified FRATS/SORORS/KINFOLK). Very few of our programs have ADs who have been ADs before, and many others dont have adequate support staff.

We (AAMU) hasn't pulled this scheduling stunt YET, but we have the same problem from our athletic department too.

FBS conferences maybe, but not ALL other conferences have their 2017 schedules filled out. In fact, many of the SWAC schools have their 2017 schedules completed. They just haven't been released.
 
Just a thought.........We as a conference might not be as marketable as many may think....

This same discussion was being had on this board a few years back when we played every school in the conference and only had 1-2 OOC.
Many then claimed that the PV and Valley and maybe one or two other schools were the main reason because they couldn't find any OOC opponents.
I remember some people complaining because PV only chose to play 10 games one year instead of picking up another game.
Each school ultimately has to do what is best for them at that time. Every schools demographics and financial situation is different.
 
Interesting! As it reads currently, 40 percent of the conference (and counting...) are suggesting it is in their best interest to play 8 conference opponents over the next two years. It reads as if an 8-game conference schedule and two designated intradivisional opponents would have went a long way in solving much of the concerns of many constituents involved.

I sure remember this like it was yesterday. It was deplorable back then but "economics" makes it OK now

Yeah I remember all of the talk about how PV was holding the conference back and all the chest thumping about how SWAC School A is a "name" and how SWAC school B is so highly sought after for OOC games....blah blah blah...

Exactly, and that's what makes this situation so frustrating. What's the use of voting to go the route of a 7-game schedule when you are scheduling 8-games? If that's the case, teams could have voted for an 8-game scheduling format.

Yep, just like some of us here suggested that they do. Play your 4 division games then 4 from the opposite division with a team rotating off and on every year. No need for this permanent rival crap because you can afford to miss 1 team from the opposite division once every 5 years.

Y'all should already understand how things work in the conference. If it's that many schools scheduling 8 games they are using it as a test run to see which one works better. It's not like its the end of the world if they take a year or two to tweak everything.

Say what??? This isn't anything new for the SWAC. This is NOT the SWAC's first time doing this. We all know what happened the first time this went into effect... and it was a train wreck. We've heard how our very own commissioner publicly admittedly that he advised against member school going down this path. What the hell is there to figure out?

Ask your President because it's painfully obvious to me that they are the ones allowing it but as usual y'all want to blame Duer knowing fully well he can't and isn't going to do anything without their approval .
