SWAC presidential turnover and Duer Sharp

We now have new presidents (or will in the future) at the following SWAC universities:

Grambling
Texas Southern
Southern
Jackson State
Alabama State

Could this mean a new SWAC commish in the future? What is the status of Sharp's contract?

Was this thread created because Duer didn't show up at the Celebration Bowl press conference today? :D

Just curious.

I'd heard beforehand that Sharp would likely not be in attendance. But I didn't want to say that prior to the presser.

This is why I refer to the conference office as the chitin circuit. The SOB didn't even send Jasher Cox to represent him in his absence.

Its time to start writing presidents and starting petitions.

List us some major reasons to put in our letters

List us some major reasons to put in our letters

1. Lack of initiative to assist member institutions with compliance and APR (nearly every school has been out of compliance at some point). If the initiative was in fact put into a plan, it failed miserably (the SEC dealt with NCAA non-compliance by firing their commish and hiring a new one, which ushered in a decade of dominance).

2. Allowing member institutions to schedule themselves as OOC matchups (AFTER the same monkey shyt was allowed years ago).

3. Failure to elevate the conferences media footprint.

4. Failure to negotiate a better apparel deal which provides more revenue to the member schools.

5. Failure to negotiate a contract which allows individual member schools to negotiate their own deals if the conference option isn't as feasible.

6. Not showing up for the Celebration Bowl press conference LOL

I'm sure some will disagee with some of these. To that, I say feel free to replace the ones you disagree with, with your own.

1 and 3 are major ones. 4 and 5 are important as well. 6 just looks bad all the way around.

I'm sure some will come up with a few more reasons. The one that pops up in my mind is inadequate use of the SDN which falls up under 3 in my opinion. The quality of the SDN is on par with bigger conferences (like the Big West. Their digital network is great) but it should be used weekly during football and SWAC conference play. We're not on ESPNU every week so it should be a fill in for it until the SWAC establishes some type of deal with someone like Root, etc.

The OVC has a Roku app that allows you to watch live games. AAMU has had more mens and women's basketball games on the OVC Network THIS year than we have had in ALL sports in TWO YEARS.

@Kenn Rashad for our own edification, do you have access to the vote tallies for Sharp's previous contract extensions? I want to know how many school's presidents are voting yay and nay.

Don't feel too bad. We were the same way last year lol. The OVC invested $2 million into their digital network. Valley played two games on there last year. I was shocked we got an ESPNU game this year considering it's been a couple of years since we've been on there (and it appears (for now) we won't be showcasing Romain on national TV since he's been suspended indefinitely)
