Can someone help me understand this:

SU, was one of the schools that were close to being shut down or had to cut backs during Obama's terms...a few other HBCUs are still in a staggering bad state...

We are playing money games..get our boys beat down....

With this money funded to our HBCUs let's look at 4 billion...How is this the case that our HBCUs are in the condition they are in if all of this money is being funneled to these universities

Can someone break this down for me on a 5th grade platform

And with the possible 25 billion, will we still need to play money games..

How does this works?

Thanks

The federal govt has little to do with the reason many of our schools are struggling...SU struggling was because of the state but SU will be okay. Most public HBCU's will be okay. Private HBCU's are going to have to justify their existence or close.

Even with parent plus loan issue, schools had 3-4 years of warnings that the change in policy was coming and did nothing.

Ok to the point of SU and State of Louisiana I agree. GSU is in the same boat. When your budget is cut at least 50% there will be problems.

Concerning private schools justifying their existence it depends on the historical success rate of a school. Take for example Arkansas Baptist and Xavier of New Orleans.

Xavier University's past president was probably the most influential HBCU leader in the public policy realm in the past 30 years so they are good. People from the Department of Education were literally flying down for Dr. Francis' birthday parties.

But I agree, historical success of the school plays a big role. Small private, under-performing HBCU's are seen as expendable in this current educational climate. You can't charge 25k a year in tuition and have an on-time graduation rate below 25%.

My brother and two cousins graduated from Xavier. The Catholic Church is part of their success as well. I mean when you have the Pope behind you there is no failure.

People give South Carolina State a lot of flack but the state legislature basically waged a war against SCSU for 5 years. That would have taken down any of our schools.

If black people voted in state elections we could work miracles and see change. Unfortunately we would rather complain and say it's always been like this.
So again if the money isn't touching the accounts of the HBCUs..then why is she stated this? or will the money touch the bank accounts

Obama raised 4 billion or invested 4 billion but again...can we see that 4 billion in our HBCUs?

You have to read the fine print on this stuff. I haven't had time to look at really and wont waste my time reading Clinton's bullshat but he is probably speaking about through federal financial aid in increased pell grant awards as well as research dollars. All money aint equal and all math doesn't add up the same.

Why is she bringing this up now...This should have been on and in play long ago eh??

Is she pandering for votes?

You can't have it both ways. You wanted to know what she would bring to the table. Now you have a problem with it being brought to the table. Either you are for the betterment of your people or against. That's how the real world works.

Preach.

Mississippi and Louisiana are 1 and 2 with the highest percentage of Black population. Mississippi is like 37% to 38% and Louisiana is like 32% to 33%. If every Black people in both of those banned together and voted for individuals in their best interest, those candidates would need less than 20% of others to win. I know for sure Louisiana has at least 15% to 20% liberal Whites who probably vote on those lines, which is how Mary Landrieu was able to remain as one of Louisiana's U.S. Senators for so long. And once she started ignoring the Black vote and trying to cross political lines, her support dwindled real fast. Mary should have taken care of her base first and left them other folks alone who would have never vote for her.

Man that crap is laughable Lol...and it's plain as day she's pandering to get black votes...

I wanted her to invest into the inner city as well...

But this is far most the most outlandish thing she's stated and laughing at you buying into this rhetoric smh

When she gives 25 billion...

Trump will give 100 billion smh..

White folks lie all the time...but go ahead and bite off the tree brother..you got it

She brought up the $25B to HBCUs in the primaries against Bernie. It was only to private HBCUs at that time but now she has added public.

I'm all for her plan, but I do think we as individuals from HBCUs need to hold our leaders more accountable. Not to pick on any HBCU in particular, but fiscal responsibility should be placed on the top of every HBCU list. We just can't be another means of funneling money to others or getting paid just because the funds are there..
