Report: Nebraska wants to rejoin Big 12

Between 2010 and 2013, four schools left the conference, reducing it from 12 to eight teams. Those schools included Nebraska, Texas A&M, Missouri and Colorado. The conference added TCU and West Virginia to make up for the exodus.

Now a report says Nebraska, which moved to the Big Ten, wants to rejoin the Big 12.

Radio host Tim Montemayor reported Wednesday that the Cornhuskers want to rejoin the Big 12.
 
These dummies left because of Texas strong arming the entire conference. Why go back ? Nebraska brings nothing; they are no longer a national brand and they don't carry any large media markets. Watch UT vote them back in and then turn around and go lobby for Nebraska's spot in the Big 10 and have the Big 12 collapse behind them,LOL.
 



Nebraska is a better fit in the Big 12.

By rejoining; it gives them a better shot at the playoffs as the Big 12 is not as strong as the Big 10.

Conclusion: Nebraska teams can compete a lot better in the Big 12.
 
If Nebraska rejoins the Big 12, that makes that final spot even more coveted lol. Texas woulod still try to strong arm to keep Houston out but I don't know if they can. Maybe Texas would let Cincy, BYU or Memphis in

They could be more competitive in the Big 12, but they aren't about to pass up what will soon be $50 million plus each year in Big 10 payouts in the name of being more competitive.
 
I don't know where this talk about letting OU go is coming from. And if they are considering such an idea (which is dumb), they might as well be prepared for OSU to bolt with them. From what I understand both schools are joined at the hip.

Pac-12, which would become the Pac-14.

Keep in mind, before the Pac-12 expanded (after adding Colorado and Utah) they were trying to get Texas, OU and Okie State to come on board as well after Texas A&M bolted for the SEC.

And Texas, OU and OSU would have joined. But the very thing that made Texas A&M leave was the very issue that stop the Pac-12 (Pac-10 at the time) from making it happen. It was that TV deal that Texas signed with ESPN in forming the Longhorn Network.

I was thinking along the lines of the SEC....but when I was a grad assistant in compliance at Arkansas we would talk about this scenario often.

So, I'd have to go to Utah and Colorado every other year? SMH!
 
What these schools, AD's and fans continue to ignore is if you have 14 teams in your conference 13 teams have to lose. the megaconference makes no sense from a competitive standpoint. better to be the champion of an 8 team league than the 4th place team in a megaconference. one gets a coach an extension and raise, the other gets you fired. r.i.p. charliestrong
 
Wouldn't Nebraska have to deal with that Grant of Rights issue if they were to leave the Big Ten?
