Are HBCUs putting too much stock into having nice facilities?

Yes they did...Yet, if you know anything about the subject you should be aware that when Doug left the first time he bitched about facilities but with the same facilities Spears busted the SWAC's ass wide open....then with the same facilities another coach who is now in the MEAC busted the SWAC's ass.

Please do watch, like so many others. And let us know what you think of ALL of the improvements from top to bottom. Esp this fall vs our young team.

If we don't meet the level of expectancy, let us know. For self, I'm moderately happy. We lost nothing from last fall and we gained a whoooooole lot more, esp in the backfield (I'll shut up, panthers).

Doug had just won the SWAC when he left too. And Spears just continued (when Bruce was healthy). No other SWAC schools had new facilities back then either.
 
Bottom line is that you have to work with what you got. And the truth is that some of these schools are blessed with plenty. So they are advantaged for having more. But nothing is guaranteed. However, I think it would take a lot of school pride and persuasion for a top-tier athlete to pass up a school with grade A facilities for the school with far less going on.

The argument is not about other schools having new facilities...the players boycotting because of the same facilities that players won championships with....
 
So since facilities don't count which SWAC school will be making that jump to the next level being that our players are on the same level as these SEC players? I mean if its all about the coaching somebody should be moving up soon

As Cochran said, as nice as that facility is....nothing really changes when it comes to the hard work in Strength and Conditioning. Squat, Bench, Powerclean, etc. nothing has really changed. HBCUs in my opinion are putting too much stock in the AMENITIES of a facility instead of the BASIC USAGE and PURPOSE of then facility. You mean to tell me FBS Schools are "that" much better when we as HBCUs basically already have the same equipment? And don't we already have Nutrition Programs/Majors at our schools already?

Some of our HBCU's have good Facilities. Now it is time to have good Nutrition Programs along with hire good coaches that will teach the fundamentals of blocking and tackling. Also, to recruit good fundamentally smart players that are also good in the classroom.

Why when PWIs get something or does something, the world takes notice. Why when an HBCU get's something the rhetoric turns into, "Are we focused on the wrong thing?" -or- "Hey, hey hey now. That's enough."

This is not just pertaining to the facilities. This is to everything we do. Whites don't have to put us in our place anymore. We do a fine job of it ourselves. We keep us there. When they brag it's a celebration, when we brag, it's boasting.

Coworkers were talking just yesterday evening about the removal of some famous Robert E Lee statue at one of the stadiums. There words: "If it offends them, take there a$$ to another school. Go to their own schools." -- an office of 297 and only 3 of us are black. They do not care what you do. It will never be enough. But why is our enough not good enough for us?

Like Obama, we can't win for losing.... But I am rambling on a tangent. Don't mind me....

I guarantee you there are 10-50 more High School Players in the US that will sign and play for our HBCUs.

I rather sign a kid from a small high school that wants to be at my HBCU than sign some recruit from a "suspect rating system" who is nonchalant to play at our HBCUs.

LOL. Where do you get this great wisdom from? Dude, If the guy on my team is BETTER than the guy on your team, then my team is gonna beat you. Coaching is overrated when it comes to a team of 5 stars playing 2 stars. Now, when all the stars are the same, then coaching comes into play. You gotta use your head bro. When a LB runs a 4.4 and can take the right angle then the play that we run in the SWAC for 8 yards gets your 1.5 yards against an SEC team. I saw that when ASU played Kentucky a few years back. We didn't loose that game because of coaching. Their athletes were better and more football smart than ours. And... they were 2 deep at every position with zero talent drop off.

LOL!! I picked Grambling because there facilities are worst than ours. If our facilities were worst than Grambling I would've said ours. On top of that Grambling is a winning program so that's the truth. Key word "worst" Grambling has the worst facilities but they still are able to win.

Grambling doesn't have the worst facilities in the SWAC and they haven't won since the facilities were complained about.
