Mr Wilson (their HC) is a disciple of LSU, Univ of Tenn, and I think one more SEC school, if memory serves correct so, he has an eye for talent and knows how to utilize that talent. Frank Wilson was the best recruiter in college football when he was at LSU. He will get some good talent in UTSA.

I always believed that, until Portland State trashed North Texas last year. That's not suppose to happen like that. Bethun Cookman's offense can be explosive when they are on.

The MEAC has the chance to win two FBS games this season. Broadway has played tough against a few FBS and top FCS programs on his resume. Bethune Cookman has is on a two game winning streak against the Sun Belt.

It's pleasantly nice to witness that HBCU hope but the real is all are competing against established squads w/ established talent, especially on the LOS. That is where HBCUs have lost and continue to lose talent-the trenches. Which also translates into a loss.

What d-1 PWCU was the SWAC's last victim? And before that? GSU over a down NwST, I think, was the one pre- in that 2006-2009 range, correct? We know the recent one already.
 
Not saying that Valley will win but I think we had the better QB before this news (the 3 freshman along the line will still have a tough test for a first game). The EMU board aren't too high on any of their QBs.

 
UNLV isn't strong in the trenches & being that this is game 1 with a new staff it's not far fetched for Mighty JSU to get this W like I believe that we will, y'all ain't heavy

Well we haven't had a coach take fbs games seriously for at least a decade. Hughes plans to win this game by any means lol so we won't be conservative. We have a difficult task up ahead.

Unlv 42 JSU 23 would be a moral victory. Unlv would be devastated lol. I think our DL will have a good game vs their mostly freshman OL. Idk if either team will do well checking the opposition's WR.

We do not have the funds to compete with these teams. Look at your results from last year and apply those to this year it will be much of the same. I'm just hoping we can keep it under 50 and play sound football. Not expecting anything other than a paycheck from these games.

I hear ya, but SWAC schools will never win if they give up before kickoff. If Northwestern St can beat ULM, why can't a good SWAC program do it. If Bethune Cookman can beat FIU twice in a row, why can't a top SWAC school do it? I have seen PV almost upset New Mexico. UAPB could have dropped New Mexico State, but lost 20-17. We all saw USM in life/ref support vs Alcorn. Those teams could have won those games against weak FBS programs.

SWAC schools have to do a better job at scouting what non conference teams we play. There is no way EMU would have called Alcorn or GSU.

EMU is going to try to run the ball up Valley's tail all night long. EMU has all 5 lineman returning and they are seniors. If the MVSU defense can make a few stops, this won't be a blowout. EMU's defense was terrible last year and isn't expected to be good this year. This game won't be a measuring stick for Valley, but they could very well show the world that they are a a better program. The Montana game is more of a measuring stick because they would beat EMU by 3 scores.
