Can Alcorn vs. JSU be Played at the Start the Season like PV vs. TX Southern

It is obvious the SWAC East Division Title is oftentimes won in Mississippi between Alcorn/JSU) or Alabama between (A&M/ASU):

SWAC East Division Titles since 1999:

Alcorn (2)
Jackson State (5)
Alabama A&M (6)
Alabama State (4)
Valley (0)

The Alcorn vs. JSU Football Game has become stagnant and boring. Everytime I go it's the same weak trash talk of , "Yeah, you beat us, but we are going to the SCG, etc." I do not see a reason why Alcorn vs. JSU cannot be played earlier in the season. If Alcorn Alums or JSU Alums know before the game they are going to the SCG and possibly Celebration Bowl, why waste money Thanksgiving Day weekend when you can save for Houston and possibly ATL?

The Magic City Classic itself to my knowledge is annually played 4-5 before Thanksgiving. If Alcorn vs. JSU were to be played Labor Day Weekend, it would energize the game and actually make it mean something. There is no reason unless a Hurricane hits it would not see success. Later on in the Season, Alcorn Alums and JSU Alums won't have to be so cash-strapped to support their teams.

It's just common sense to me.

Moving game day isn't the only way to rekindle rivalries. The past two years we haven't been good so it impacted the game. Years before that you guys weren't good (enough to go to scg). If we ever meet on the field for all the marbles we won't ever talk about scheduling on a diff date.
 
Well, Alcorn is about to go back to the dumps but we enjoy ending their season by giving them that L...

and playing your biggest rival on opening weekend is so smalltime..

I guess he's moved on from trying to get the Bayou Classic moved to September. I suppose the Magic City Classic is next up on the list.
 
So if I'm correct, he wants to play the biggest game of the year before your defensive players as well as your offensive players haven't had a chance to gel, learn schemes or be in true game shape? I can it now players cramping like crazy n fans losing it because its still hot as hell in MS at the beginning of Sept.

I just love to see the things you put out there BH cause it seems u really put some thought into that.
 
Traditionally Alcorn's depth has worn thin by November so that's why JSU drops 50 on them on the regular. The game, competition wise, would be better at mid-season. Alcorn increased their scholarship count with Hopson, let's see if President Rankins will stay as committed to the program with McNair.

By Nov TP finds reasons not to watch JSU. Thats why he figure mid season. Last year it was new kids. The year prior coaching. Years prior to that more coaching. So hopefully TP will be tuned in for the beatdown. Or it may be another excuse...helping at a nursing home this time I guess. Hope the Silver Alert doesn't go out for TP by Nov. snickering
Also the scholarship was the same. If it was raised it would have been done under Brown not Rankin. And it wasnt. Just keep up with queen n not things on the reservation you know nothing about.

Brown vs Rankins was my point.. Learn to READ!
...and JSU has better year-end records than Alcorn so why would I need a reason to stop watching?

When is the last time that happened. The game is boring and meaningless where it is right now. If I know my team is going to Houston before the game why waste money going to a meaningless game? This game isn't like the Southern Heritage Classic...there is no extra excitement about JSU vs. Alcorn anymore.

Do I need to go to BannerOnline Services to quiet you? I thought all Alumni are good for is paying our money. I choose not to be associated with no Clique Alumni groups. As long as I pay my money and give back, what's the issue?

Nope. SU and Gram still are not factoring in the SCG and Celebration Bowl. You had people on this board saying they couldn't make the Celebration Bowl because those 3 games in 4 weeks was too much. We the SWAC pushed out the Celebration Bowl and We have give it the best chance to thrive.

Easy solution to the heat problem: Make it 6pm-7pm kickoff. Notice when USM played Alcorn the kickoff was late in the Evening. Alcorn vs. JSU at night Labor Day Weekend would be awesome.

If Alcorn can hold up their end of the bargain and not go back to being sorry, the game will mean something. Can ya'll do that or nah?

And no BH a real Alum actually loves and supports his school. People outside of Alcorn can just pay money like your friend TP. (We do appreciate the gesture). You have no kinda Brave Spirit about you
