GSU Bolsters Defense with Second Tulane Transfer

So you think Fobbs would not leave for a FBS level school? And you do realize those schools have enough money to pay out a FCS school for a coach if they want him badly. I can't believe Fobbs signed a contract that hinders him leaving for a bigger job if that buyout is so big that it would deter folks from coming after him.

Now I do agree he aint going nowhere no time soon. Don't know what big enough FBS job that will come open that would be interested in any FCS head coach. Most want coordinators from other FBS schools to take over their program.

+1

Grambling rarely plays freshmen...most redshirt unless they are on the two deep. These jucos will be there two years at most. These high school kids will play as redshirt freshmen, some will start as redshirt sophomores and so it goes. Seems that Fobbs is getting them in Grad school the same as Doug before him, Broadway before him, Spears before him, Doug before him, Coach Rob before them. We good!

Sicily Island we agree on this!!!! LOL

There is nothing wrong with having transfers or JUCO to fill immediate needs. You just don't want to have a whole bunch of them on your team at one time. It did not surprise me that Fobbs went that route on the defense. He lost a whole lot on defense. Fobbs was left 3 choices.

(1) Hit the Transfer/Juco route hard for defense
(2) Hope his defense could grow up fast
(3) Plan on getting in shoot outs with good teams

This is the year Grambling DC is going to have to step up. His Offense bailed him out time and time again but got exposed against BCU and Alcorn in Houston. That game was worse than the 49-21 score indicated.

I don't think that many kids will leave. We are losing our number 1 and 2 wr's and 3 total at that position after this year that get playing time. Our D-line was already depleted after last year and we needed more size on the O-line. We got what we needed. The transfers will still have to learn the playbook so next year will be the big year for most of them and Fobbs said he likes to play a lot of guys so everyone will contribute and we shouldn't miss a beat when the second team guys step in. By the time the transfers leave our young guys will be ready to play. The junior class that we have is very small so the transfers really just make up for the small junior class we had when Fobbs first came and didn't get to really recruit. Iron sharpens iron so it should all balance out good and now it's like Fobbs recruited a good class his first year with the 2 year transfers.

A place where we are getting some good recruits. Fobbs applied when Doug was hired the second time....just imagine if we would have hired Fobbs instead. Yet, that is water under the bridge. Some of the players have said that if they do not win the Celebration Bowl that their season is a failure. The goals have been set.

Would Dooley have come then? Thats the question... If Dooley leaves, Fobbs is fugged!

You divided GSU fans are funny. How do we know that Fobbs would have won a ring if he would have been hired then? GSU's defense under Fobbs has gotten the G-Men embarrassed in big games

+1. I think the handwriting is on the wall, for the most part. I just hope this move doesn't screw Grambling APR/ncaa-wise like that situation w/ GaSouthern/Fritz to Tulane. That was really messy - the win right now approach.

Grambling JUST added 2 more transfers:
JUCO DT Johnkil Skipper
Former Baylor Commit and JUCO OLB T'kevian Rockwell has transferred to Grambling. Rockwell was a 4-Star high school player from Wylie High in Wylie, Texas.

New list:

I wonder how those HS recruits @ the same position feel right about now. :(

My goodness! I didn't know Grambling loaded up like that! Damn!

That list of transfers looks like a damn C-USA list! Grambling might mess around and play Arizona tough for at least 2 quarters. (That's if the defense is looking like something.)

They way Grambling is getting all of these transfers reminds me of Comegy when he was at JSU. Also, Grambling better be careful with all these transfers. Hope they are legit.....hint hint

Trying to win immediately... I dig it. Well the transfers still have to pan out and the DC needs to switch his scheme or they'll get killed again. Idk why swac coaches try to run schemes with a 3 DL front. If you don't have an All American NG you will struggle. Gram will put up plenty of points tho if kincade pans out.

Bruh....Fobbs took a team that boycotted the year before and damn near was in the SWAC championship the next year. That tells a hell of story.

I'm sure Fobbs and compliance got together, they know how the APR rules are. DUH BTW, we actually a number of GSU Football players in Grad School.

I don't think these transfers will stop Grambing from finishing 2nd or third. Both of those spots have Pv and Gram's name on them.

No need to remind folks that we are the Icon of BCF. We are pioneers of winning. Transfers or not Grambling has never gone more than six years without a SWAC title. This may not be rivaled in the history of college football.

Fobbs is building the dynasty. We are about multiple championships at Icon Gram as this is our natural destiny. This aim of perfection is clearly above the head of programs with a traditionless history.

Come again.

It's a cute story, but title rings matter and are the ending to great books. This season could be harder for GSU than last season was to be champions again.

I don't see GSU beating PV if the defense hasn't shown significant improvement. I wouldn't be shocked at a Alcorn win because GSU owns Alcorn in the regular season. Although the Braves did let there frustration out of Fobbs and his staff in the title game.
