Helping autistic man, black therapist shot by Florida police: media

https://www.yahoo.com/news/helping-autistic-man-black-therapist-shot-florida-police-044231095.html

(Reuters) - A video emerged online on Wednesday showing the moments before an unarmed black Florida man was shot by police as he lay in a street with his hands up next to an autistic patient whom he was trying to help, media reported.

Behavioral therapist Charles Kinsey was hospitalized after he was shot three times in the leg by a North Miami police officer during an incident on Monday, media said.

The incident comes at a time when racial tension is high in the United States. Protests have erupted in major U.S. cities during the past year and a half, as widely viewed videos of police shootings of black men drew attention to long-standing issues of race, policing and lack of accountability for officers.

Waiting for police apologists to appear..
What is a police apologist? I think many of you don't understand reality. Many of you want people like me that have friends, family members, college classmates, high school classmates to wish they get hurt and die in the streets because of some ignorant white men. If that is being a police apologist and black folks like yall can't see that yall can kiss our azz. Bottom line. My loyalty will always be with my family and friends over any one else. I have always fought for black people rights. I have sacrificed my own career so that black people who look like you and others on this board can have jobs. One reason the black race will never reach its full potential is because we as blacks can't see others views when they don't agree with our own. Now black like that Sheriff Clark dude and Clarence Thomas I can totally agree with many people that those type of people got issues, but because folks don't agree with killing innocent cops because of what some rednecks do that is you folks problem.

Waiting on the folks who need more information or claim that he was not obeying police...

Waiting on the people to say we are acting emotional and not thinking logical...
I think we are suppose to be mad. Nothing wrong with being emotional. Having emotions is what leads to getting solutions.

We all have or know a cop. I have two 1st cousins in L.A. that are/were cops. One is locked up on 15 year bid for being part of Rampart CRASH Scandal and the other is a L.A. County Police. He (L.A. County) can never go back to Watts because he refused to deal drugs with his cousin. He hates horrible cops. Two different extremes of guys who grew up next door to one another.

My fiance and I had a long talk about this for the last month and we both are slowly getting our compassion back for police officers. The reason is so many of these good cops do not say anything or turn a blind eye per se to what the bad cops are doing. When they do stand up they get ostracized. I think a number of cities need to follow the blueprint that the City of Ruston and Lincoln Parish are following. These two entities are making the police force to be more of the racial makeup of the city and parish. The mayor and sheriff has officers from neighborhoods patrolling the areas they grew up in. The is a far cry from what it was when I was coming up here.

To your point about black people reaching their potential I can agree. I think what we as black folk don't do enough of is utilize the policies that are in place to create and support our endeavors.

You really have to see the pic of him in the article before he was shot and what the officer said afterwards.

There are a lot of under-trained trigger happy officers out here that shouldn't be on anyone's street

Man laying on his back with hands up.

My mother taught autistic people for over 30 years. Some of us on this page have autistic children. This man was on his back looking at the autistic child to keep him calm and the cop still shot him.

Again what else are we as black people supposed to fucking do?

Why couldn't one cop holster his firearm and walk up slowly to investigate?

Cops need to be trained on how to deal with the mentally ill and those with special needs.

Rest my case

+2 I think that raising the minimum age requirements to attend police academies would be a start. I see these young officers around H'ville and some of them look terrified, and they have the guns.

These are the things cop apologists say and think. If you don't do this, I wasn't talking to you or about you... Hello?!

Just trying to figure out when I advocated cop killings in the one sentence I posted above. Hit dogs...every time.
You don't have comprehension skills do you? No where in my post did I say you advocated seeing cops get killed. What I stated was that when we get to that point we have no movement.

My point exactly. The thing is the same blacks saying what black cops should do punk out on their jobs everyday when it comes to the white devil. These blacks talk a tough game, but when it comes to getting blacks in the company, fighting for blacks rights at work these same blacks run like bytches. I see it everyday in Huntsville. The main reason I don't deal with these backwoods blacks in this city. They all at work talking about what folks need to do and will never say a word or stand with you when you need them at work. Yeah that's what they do. Can't fool me. Truth be told if a race war was to jump off the same blacks ain't got no heart to pull the trigger themselves.

Nice post man. There are 3 youngers running about this area that I LITERALLY pushed to be in law enforcement when they left HS. While in HS, they were in elementary school and looked up to me and now that they are men, they still want to be near me and thank me for helping to direct their path. Also have several upon several relatives, HS classmates, and other buds who are in law enforcement. Naturally, like a lot of the emotional wrecks posting here, they should all die/be murdered huh?

Comical. smh

I agree. The age limit should be at least 25 and over. No way a 21 year old should have that responsibility.

You lumped me in with whoever you were talking about, you directly replied to my comment and constantly use the word "you" . I wrote one sentence and you sent a two paragraph rebuttal that had nothing to do with my original post.

My post was highlighting how (some) of these murderers with a badge get off because of cop apologists. Meaning, people who side with police no matter what. Castille wasn't enough evidence for some but this guy complied and the results are the same. You get it now? Nobody in this particular thread is talking about harming cops.

Okay Cee.....now I will ask you this, 'What Would Jesus Do'? And there is scripture to address my question. Now, I am not saying you should wish ill will on ANYONE whether law "enforcers" or not and I am certain most people on here are not saying that. Just this past weekend I texted a police officer "to be careful out there". But for those of you who believe in the Christ, who did Jesus say were his brothers and sisters?

When people say "police apologist" they are referring to those law breaking police officers who get unconditional passes. To infer anything else is being disingenuous or just plain muddying the waters. When you have video that shows the before, during AND after and you STILL have indecision about what should happen to this shooter then there IS a problem. Silence is not always golden.

One more thing, the person who made that call should face consequences as well (IMNSHO). That person put lives at stake without knowing what was going on or maybe not even caring what was going on.

Things like this is why folks hate cops. I can understand that and it does make you mad. I still can't agree with and support the folks hurting innocent one though. Now if they went and got George Zimmerman, Dylan Roof and the dude who killed Jordan Davis I wouldn't be mad at all.

I should have made myself clear and I do apologize to you for that. I wasn't calling you out baby girl. I was just making a statement in general. I do understand your point don't get me wrong. I would never rally behind cops like Darin Wilson or these other redneck animals is what I was trying to say. The black Sheriff from Wisconsin has some serious issues. I also support black lives matter, I just don't like how they aren't organized like they should be, but I truly get why they march and support them.

I have yet to see where anyone in this group is advocating this. Maybe I have missed that post but I do know that I have not advocated this.

My neighbor just said this yesterday.

To me the guy who was shot had more restraint than the cops and that's sad.

I get what you all are saying, but I guess what I'm saying is we have to be realistic to. Those black officers have no more power on their jobs then you and I have. Tuesday in the barbershop this one barber told this black cop in the shop getting his hair cut that if he really supported the black community he should quit his job and find something else to do. Does that make sense? I mean sometimes we go down the wrong path without thinking. Winning a war takes critical thinking not emotional thinking. Now for what would Jesus do? He certainly wouldn't kill innocent people. I agree for the person calling they should also face charges. This is why I made the topic about dispatchers that day. Many of these white women who are dispatchers are racist and relay wrong info.
