At least 1 Baton Rouge officer shot; active shooter situation underway, police say

Why isn't it reality? What wasn't real about it? It may not represent ALL, but it dayum sure represents probably 2/3.
Not to say the Hill is not white as hell. If Toi was here, she would attest to that. I was just saying, there are black interns on the hill. Not enough (as with everything) but there are a respectable number of black students interning on the hill.

My problem with the initial pic is that you and others used it to comment on the perceived lack of initiative of Black kids. Soft bigotry of low expectations.

I didn't necessarily say lack of initiative. More like the lack of desire to even become part of the most important part of the process. Those folks in that picture have the desire and initiative, hence that's why they are there. We need more like them to even WANT to be there in the first place.

So you're going to use one photo posted by one politician -- a GOP politician at that -- to make a determination of the "lack of desire" of black people?

WTF?!

Actually, no...but if you surmise that, what's the difference in that and you using 1 video about 1 cop to generalize the actions of a bunch?

My statement was a general statement that used a picture as an example. The picture was highly publicized, and garnered a response from the other side (one that I am dayum happy that came out). My point was simply to illustrate that in the area that can most effect change, we are under-represented. Marches, riots, protests, and all the rest of the movements that are going on are all great. But until you are represented by someone with your same ideals in the spot where laws can be created or changed, then we are fighting on the wrong field.

It's the same as people having a lack of desire to be a police officer. Remember the Dallas Chief's statement last week? While somewhat out of place at the time, it is somewhat true. It does not mean that there are NONE there. It means that most don't want to do THAT particular job to effect THAT particular change. It's not an indictment of them, it's just a true statement.

Well we got plenty of examples of blacks not showing desire.

And yes that needed to be called out because if Paul could only get white kids to sign up for internship-that's an issue.

I should not have to hunt down black politicians to see black interns.

Paul needs to be questioned did any black ones in your district even apply? If not WHY?

The black one has no excuse based on where many of them are serving.

The GOP specifically, and Capitol Hill as a whole, has a documented history as well....Can't pick and choose when to apply generalizations. I'm not advocating for either side. I'm merely speaking facts.

Now. Dems cant brag about diversity on their hill staff makeups either. The Hill (and the obama admin) is white as hell
