At least 1 Baton Rouge officer shot; active shooter situation underway, police say

I wonder if the NRA has said anything on the deaths of Sterling and Castile. I did not hear much of anything the week they died.

Most black Republicans are airheads. Especially the women.

Same could easily be said for Democrats. Half that you ask couldnt even give you a reason that they vote Democrat other than that's what black people are supposed to do. Go out and ask the average black democrat what Hillary's campaign is built on and see how many blank stares you get.

Couldn't you say that about most of the electorate?

The shooter was a former Marine. Young people straight out of high school joining the military can't handle the pressure of going from civilian life to military life and back to civilian life again, especially young American kids. American kids live a shelter life from 0 to 18 y/o and then all of sudden they are no longer shelter. The problem is that this country no longer has the means of keeping track of disturbed individuals.
The weapons that he had on him were ridiculous. The first-responding LEOs really stood little chance against him, especially with his Marine background. SWAT had to snipe him from a long distance. Folks better start getting on the "invest in mental health " train quickly.

They were until Reagan and Republicans cut funding in the 80s.

Yes you can. However when it comes to Democrats-as a black person you are REQUIRED to vote for them no matter how much crap they do ti you. Especially if they are black or ELSE.

Heck why do you think Hilary went after all those mothers whose sons got killed by cops and Zimmerman. You win them over and you got the black vvote.

I saw it first hand when I graduated from college in 1989 and moved to Los Angeles. I asked some of my co-workers one day, was the homeless situation always this bad in Los Angeles??? Their reply to me was, "Los Angeles has always had homeless people here and there, but it had gotten 100 times worse right after Reagan sliced into the mental health budget". Most of the homeless people on the streets today are actually mentally ill people who really need help. That was a big life changing experience to me being a young man just out of college and from Louisiana. Thanks to Bush 41, Bush 43, and the NRA allowing anyone to get their hands on a weapon, now days you have to add into that homeless equation soldiers coming back from combat with PTSD. Once you train individuals to kill people in combat, some of their minds do not easily switch back to a normal state where they are not killing people. From Reagan's cuts into mental health to the wars started by Bush 41 and Bush 43, the Republicans keep opening Pandora's box only to find out that it really wasn't a good idea for the country as a whole. And now they want to elect a man who's main businesses have been casinos, sweat shops, and bogus real estate investments, basically someone who has kept himself afloat off the backs of others/an arrogant con artist. There's nothing progressive about the Republican Party's agenda. Also, if you watch the Youtube videos of the Baton Rouge shooter, his mind was definitely stuck in a war like mentality where he wanted to killed police officers in general (Black and White police officers), whereas from the media, the shooter in Dallas had the same mentality with a slight variation of only wanting to kill WHITE police officers. IMO, both appeared to be in the same mind frame of the character Private Pyle in the movie 'Full Metal Jacket'. You can't take this new generation of momma's babies and make them trained killers overnight and expect them to function normal in society.

When the former police chief has to get on T.V. and do stuff like this, it tells me that Baton Rouge has a lot of work to do in racial matters. IMO, the first thing the city should do is vote to eliminate that city/parish combined government. The City of Baton Rouge is 55% majority Black and its elected officials and government workers should be a reflection of its population.

He was the best thing the BR police dept had going for it.

IMO, all of Louisiana's police departments need to be reformed. When my dad joined the Alexandria Police Department, he was like 1 out of 5 Blacks on a police department of 200 to 300 police officers at that in the 70's. I'm sure the department has way over that number of Black police officers now, but Alexandria is currently like 60% Black. Louisiana is over 32% Black population, but I bet its combined law enforcement agencies (federal, state, parishes, cities, towns, and villages) make up of 10% or less of Black police officers.

The largest Alexandria racial/ethnic groups are Black (59.3%) followed by White (35.3%) and Asian (2.6%).

Also, how quick we are to forget that former LAPD police officer Christopher Dorner was prior military and supposedly he snap due to the racism he experienced in the ranks of LAPD.

Louisiana Congressman Bill Cassidy is a joke. He's on CNN blaming the federal government for illiteracy and dyslexia in Louisiana which is in his opinion are the main reasons for Louisiana high crime rate. I guess his memory is very short when it comes to Jindal's budget cuts in higher education. IMO, Louisiana have way too many political idiots.

Something is definitely wrong with a person who pins his military insignia on a regular suit.
Congressman-Allen-West.jpg

Actually they have lapel pins of military ribbons that worn on suits. My father always wore his POW lapel pin. Also, they have miniature lapel military insignia pins.

What Allen West has on that suit are not regular suit lapel pins. They are airborne pins that are supposed to be worn on his Class A or Dress Blue Military Uniforms.

My dad wore his each time he put on a suit or sports coat.

I don't have a problem with it. The man earned it. Though I may not agree with certain policies that he supports I will not look at a veteran negatively because he wears his medals or trained pins on his suit. If it were not for men like him we would not be able to post here.

Are you allowed to wear your frat pin on a military uniform??? It just seems quite bizarre to me for a U.S. Senator to wear such pins on a regular suit.

Who's "REQUIRED". That is a cop-out that plays well with those who do not get the black vote. People vote for a candidate for varies reasons. Most blacks/Hispanic/Asian/women vote for Democrats because they believe in an activist government. Most can't explain it.

It's not bizarre at all. Check out some of guys who ride bikes that are Vets. All of the motorcycle clubs are not gangs. The Patriot Riders have a number of Black and White vets and they wear their medals on their vest. I'm part of the "Sons of the American Legion" and I see a number of them wearing their medals on their chest.

Replacing them cost money so many guys just alternate them from their retirement uniform. We buried my father in a dress uniform. After he developed Agent Orange Cancer he purchased 3. One to be buried in, one for the military museum in Ruston, and one for us to keep at home. The one at home he used to take them on and off and wear them on suits. Mostly he wore his Silver Star and POW lapel pins or the ribbons themselves.

I've seen people like bikers guys and hippies do it, but an U.S. Senator. IMO, it is bizarre. What other U.S. Senator you know does that???
