Melendez leaving Alabama State for FIU





Hopefully w/ the bar set high @ Alabama St University, whomever is next will maintain the high excellence coach Melendez created. Good luck to coach Melendez. He certainly raised the profile of AlaSU baseball. And good luck to AlaSU finding a "like" replacement. AlaSU is the unmistakable class of the SWAC w/ regards to baseball.
 
Associate head Coach Jose Vazquez has been named interim head coach so if/when the AD locks him in, the Good Guys will be alright. Great job Mervyl!
 
He gets to go back to his home area and work his magic there.

Big shoes to fill whoever gets that job at ASU

Great news for both parties. Need to lock him up asap
 
Can't be mad, but you can try to lock up his entire staff, maintain the recruiting class you've got coming in and keep the momentum moving forward.
 



This is a minor setback. However, this is what happens when coaches at HBCUs become successful. Expect LeVelle Moton to be gone within the next two years.
 
Was a finalist at New Orleans twice. I think they'd of pulled the trigger - especially the second time - if not for his buyout situation at Alabama State.

He's going to be successful at FIU. Good move, Panthers!
