Are HBCUs missing the ball when it comes to recruiting top talent?

Quinn had multiple FBS offers. SU was able to get him, because his dad played basketball at SUNO and his coach is SU's Assistant AD.

Overall there is definitely a difference in 4+ star and under that. Especially when a whole team consists of them. It's the difference between Bama State with say, a 3 star Tavares Jackson, playing Alabama. That difference becomes apparent realllllllllllllllllllll fast.

3*s from where? La? Miss? lol A 3/4/5* from La/Miss is akin to a 1* here in Texas lol. We have BETTER and BIGGER HS facilities, better coaching (year round - offseason), and a larger talent pool where so many are competitive against their peers. There's a reason why powerhouse schools like Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame, et al recruit Texas and bypass La/Miss. +, there is an academic requirement that is almost undeniable where others severely fall short lol :D . Those alleged "3*s" that su, jsu, and gsu sign are being beaten by a bunch of 1* "normal" student-athletes w/ a strong drive and if those same 3 decide to come to Texas, you'd better update your facility game because their HS venues are a lot better than your school's offertory :D . Right, you don't belong in Allen, McKinney, or Frisco - Texas recruiting, at all, but some of us do belong there. :D

I don't know about that....LSU stay hanging foot up Texas A&M butt with chiefly Louisiana athletes...lol

Alabama leads the list of NFL players per capita with one NFL player for 75,869 residents followed Louisiana (one in 78,162) and Georgia (one in 84,979).

According to USA Football, Miami has produced 31 active NFL players, followed by 20 for Fort Lauderdale, 16 for Atlanta, 14 for Houston, 13 for New Orleans and Dallas

lmao@per capita lol. Like I said and honestly stated earlier, powerhouse programs Michigan, Ohio St, Notre Dame, Michigan St, et al recruit Tx, Fl, & Ca religeously and stay away from others lol. They also have an academic standard for admissions that many others seemingly cannot qualify lol.

lol And you seriously think they don't recruit in Louisiana? With all of the 5 star athletes produced in LA? Sobriety is your friend..lol. BTW, the powerhouse programs are in the SEC..

The rating system is based on size, speed, and "next-level" potential based on film. Its not a complete joke, but it is highly flawed because it doesn't measure heart, hard work and cant account for the late bloomer factor. Simply put, it measure a kid where he currently is.

Put it this way...if Robert Mathis was 6'2, 235 coming out of high school with the same production & ability, he would have been a Georgia Bulldog instead of an AAMU Bulldog. But he was closer to 6', 195 coming out of HS and hadn't developed his pass rush moves.

This is where SWAC coaches really make hay in recruiting. You must have an eye for raw talent and size up how hard a kid is willing to work to turn that rawness into a complete package.

Actually sprinkled with some homerism, but it's all good.

No matter the state, the star system overrates some while underrating others. But it makes for some debate for debate sake I guess.
 
Texas has three 100k+ stadiums in the state. Between super bowls and NCAA Football National Champions, there's only 1 National Championship trophy won in the entire state in last 30 years. Jerry Jones probably should have stayed with the 66k stadium with the hole in the roof. LMAO!!!

Metro Houston has 6M people with 14 people on NFL rosters....New Orleans has 1M with 13 on NFL rosters...somebody is full of ..lol. This Metro Dallas has 6M and have the same as NOLA

It's all a crap shoot...the SWAC used to get mid major athletes in basketball easily in the 80s and 90s easily until aau and A lot of those recruits were sent based on phone calls...now we see these kids for years and we have way more duds

Same with football..we got better athletes sight unseen or off a grainy beta tape

Notre Dame.....Jerry Tillery a max prep All-American. Ohio St recruited Brandon Harris to the wire also Kristian Fulton and Rashad Lawrence. To name a few....

And there was a guy I know who is a 2 time NFL champ that ND recruited and had no problem qualifying but he stayed in Louisiana and became and All-American and 1st round draft pick.
