Question: Why do the fastest kids/players seems to come from places far south?

I think its the climate. Its pretty much warm year round down south. kids can play outside pretty year old. Up North between the months of November and March. it been too cold to play outside.

But a lot of us born and reared in the south aren't blessed w/ speed. I can honestly state that I never ran anything below a 4.63 40. Howsinever, I felt faster/quicker once I left HS. The most I did afterwards was run against a few track guys @ PVAMU and this one cat from NW htown, who starred @ then SWT in the 100m and 200m. All of them smoked me like I was standing still lololol :D .

I hauled hay and pulpwood out the ying-yang pre-teen going forward until 21. I was built for strength, not speed.

The answer is Climate combined with Poverty.

I travel to the carribean on average once a month. I see personally how kids in Jamaica believe their only way off the Island is through track. When I’m in the Dominican Republic, I see kids who believe their only way off the island is through baseball. Never been to Brazil, but it’s soccer for them. Same as in the African American community in the US we put our faith in Football, Basketball and Rap. When you have a whole culture or community put maxium effort in these sports you will start turning out great athletes. 30 years ago there were hardly any Dominican players in MLB. Now most of the best players are Dominican.

+1. True. I stayed in quite a few places in the Caribbean and the oddest thing I saw were spr/sum track meets w/ youth who were running barefoot. And they were laying it DOWN! First thing I thought was if those same kids hit the football/track&field/bball courts, they'd run circles around american kids, literally lol.
