Savannah State (FCS – GA): According to outlets of our Georgia, Savannah State is planning a press conference for Friday to announce their new head coach and the three finalists are Arkansas Pine-Bluff offensive coordinator / QBs coach (and former former Morehead College and Alabama A&M head coach) Anthony Jones, Wabash (D-III – IN) head coach Eric Raeburn, and longtime college assistant Kevin Grigsby who spent last season at Norfolk State as assistant head coach / corners coach. The new coach will take over for Earnest Wilson III, who left to become the head coach at Elizabeth City State (D-II – NC) in February.

Jones is great at fixing APR issues. SSU has been terrible in that area. Also Jones knows Georgia and will get them some talent for his system. Now Jones is not a championship coach, but he will at least get them a few 6-5 and 7-4 seasons. This will be like a championship for a school that hasn't had a winning season in about 15-18 years. lol
 
I hope Jones gets it he will build a good program down there for SSU....

Jones is better as a head coach than an Asst...that way he can hire his own personnel
 
I don't think Jones is good at APR. Look at Jones' record during the real APR era. When APR hit, Jones couldn't recruit. When you have to worry about APR, you need the ability to recruit good players with good grades. Jones recruited sorry players with good grades.

Savannah State University has selected Erik Raeburn as the new head football coach. Raeburn will be the 25th head football coach in the history of the program.

Unless Savannah St. sets him up for success, they will be looking for another coach soon. When your top 2 candidates are a DIII coach and Anthony Jones that is a problem. I feel Jones should have got the job and he would at least fixed the APR and got them to winning at least 4 or 5 games a year.
