When does Grambling St. schedule comes out?

I am not going to sit here and just throw the Admin under the bus especially since my phone call from this morning. But hey everything is Administration fault.. Again we could have loaded a bus or bike and headed somewhere else but HEY !!

Fobbs said Grambling received numerous calls for that particular date but all the schools wanted the Tigers to travel.

Instead, Fobbs felt it was important to start in front of a home crowd.

"We haven't had a home game here in the early part of September since I've been here. The struggle has been to try and get a home game," he said.

Broderick Fobbs has encountered plenty of "never" situations during the past three years as Grambling's football coach.

The latest comes in the form of Grambling's 2016 schedule, which was finalized last week, via back-to-back open dates in October and no bye week before the annual Bayou Classic against Southern in November.

"It is interesting. I think it was something that was done by the conference because normally we have an open week prior to the Bayou Classic. It's going to be a challenge for us to really develop and get better," Fobbs told The News-Star on Monday.

Not sure If I would blame Administration for this !!!

1 thing SWAC schools continue to encounter with OOC FCS opponents is this:

Fobbs said Grambling received numerous calls for that particular date but all the schools wanted the Tigers to travel.

Instead, Fobbs felt it was important to start in front of a home crowd.

"We haven't had a home game here in the early part of September since I've been here. The struggle has been to try and get a home game," he said.

"We want to get started the right way and develop after the first game. I'm a firm believer you make the biggest improvements between week one and week two as opposed to any other time in-season."

Grambling hosted Bethune-Cookman on Sept, 12, 2015, but the Tigers have played a home opener just once since 2007.

Too many times, PWC FCS teams don't want to travel to HBCU's unless the HBCU travels 1st.

That's exactly who we would blame. Neither one of us had permanent AD's. The meeting where this was decided upon, Coach Banks was in basketball season so he couldn't attend. She we sent another representative. Not sure who Gram sent.

So you think SU and Gram reps were okay with the lack of a bye before the Classic? I seriously doubt anyone we sent would just be okay with that.

It is my understanding that conference scheduling is done by the conference office. Once the member schools are aware of their open dates, it is from there that they go about the business of scheduling OOC games. Member schools can attempt to have games moved to another date, but that at times would require the cooperation of a 3rd and sometimes, 4th member to make it work. That can be difficult and usually not worth the effort.
