SU had a excellent crowd. Jags came from all over last minute. They want the football championship and the tournament to be a big event.
I have been two the last two CB championships and I really enjoyed myself. I was pleasantly surprised by the attendance at the tournament (finals) this year. A-3041
Why not play early rounds on Texas Southern campus???? First round games on campuses will not allow give you time to plan for the tourney.... If you KNOW every team is going to be in Houston its much easier to plan.
Just Asking.......why do we need a NBA Arena for a couple of thousand people at most.....
Allowing the swac regular season champ to host the conference tournament is ehat sjould happen. Its areward for regular season excellence.
Fishing packages included? These French Quater folks who have moved to New Orleans from different walks of the white brick road of America will try to get rid of the SWAC tournament in a heartbeat once they here "everyone" from the SWAC is coming down to party. Lol.
Anyway, how about Missisisppi Gulf Coast Coliseum in Biloxi? I think folks would like being on the coast for the weekend.
If not in Houston, what other cities would be a nice selection??? Dallas, New Orleans, Little Rock, Birmingham, etc.???
It should be this way at this juncture. As i said this morning, you will be hard pressed to get a lot of people to book their vacation for 5 days around the SWAC tourney when your team could be gone by day 2. In football, you really know ahead of time to book those PTO days for Homecoming and/or SCG
And imagine if a school like Alcorn or Valley won the tourney. Planning and housing at least 16 teams in the nearby area.It would be a planning nightmare. Think about trying to find hotel rooms for all those teams in a short time. You may not know who is the regular season champ until the last night of the regular season.
How would you do the women's and men's tournament if held in different cities at the same time.
No way, no how...
I'm wondering when Shreveport will get in the mix with anything dealing with the SWAC.

It was being rumored that they would go back to 8 teams making the field with the 1st round on campus and the semi-finals & finals in Houston on friday and saturday.
Actually, from the image you see below, the problem with Shreveport is that it is just on the western border of the SWAC footprint.

I saw that Tweet. I think this is very favorable.
I also think the SWAC was too aggressive with the cost per session for the Tuesday thru Thursday games.
Man, something is going to give soon. There is NOTHING south-western but aPVm and sTu in the SWAC. This is a geographically $$$$ nightmare budget buster for aPVm and sTu. smh It would be financially prudent for the other 8 current schools to form their own conference and for aPVm and sTu to enter a new conference (travel, budget, time wise for athls). Cannot speak to sTu but it would be in aPVm's best interests financially to situate itself in a conference that isn't so travel heavy (distance + time = $$$$$).Actually, from the image you see below, the problem with Shreveport is that it is just on the western border of the SWAC footprint.

The Campbell Center is not bad either.

The traction has already started.::read::
