DAY 2: 2016 SWAC BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

Even with 24 turnovers, AAMU is staying close 63-59 ASU w/ 7:30 left in the game

Too many turnovers and poor shooting killed AAMU. Now they are fouling to stop the clock but Alabama St in't missing them free throws to take a commanding lead. The game was really much closer than what the final score is.

87-72 Alabama St wins

Y'all have to remember that some teams come out in that 1st game tight. Unlike the power conferences that can sport good records, lose in the conference tournament, and still reach the NCAA tournament, our teams don't have that luxury. I think getting this opening game out of the way helped the women get rid of their nerves and they'll be ready to go for the next game.

Seeing as Monday-Thursday are normal working days, do you guys think the tournament would be more beneficial rotating on each other's campuses? I mean if we only having 10,000 people show up, I don't see the need in being in the Toyota Center when we could easily showcase the basketball complexes on our own campuses.

It would rotate between SWAC East sites and SWAC West sites every year.

Remember that Toyota is the major sponsor of our tournament and hosting it in their place (Toyota Center) is a major marketing tool for them and us. You give our players the enjoyment of playing in a professional venue. Just like you give the football teams that same enjoyment of playing in NRG.

problem is your not going to book a ticket unless you are sure you are going in that scenario...and you wont know until the day of damn near.....this format at least offers you an opportunity to know you can book as you'll be there

I think the 9 and 10 seeds will go away as those teams are normally dangerous with that extra game in an NBA arena

If they go away, I don't think it should be for that reason. To hell with "dangerous". I mean........if you ain't good enough to beat a 9 or 10 seed, then you ain't good enough to win the damn tournament anyway.
