The Bucs wanted to keep Dirk Koetter around after seeing what he did with Jameis so Lovie unfairly got the boot despite progress.

Jerry is keeping Garrett around because he know he can boss him around unlike a Sean Payton or Bill Parcells type. Jerry knows the Cowboys will make money anyway so he can continue to play GM and hold the Cowboys back.

Yes Kendrick, really, you usually have a better answer than that. If Jason Garrett can keep his job year after year, than Lovie, Chip Kelly should be able to keep their jobs as well!

Good point, but the Bucs better hope this guy is ready to be a head coach. As for Garrett, we know he no more than a puppet coach and the Cowboy fans should be mad because the owner is more interested in making money than winning a SuperBowl. Jones is one of these owners today with large egos that love yes men and not someone challenging their authority. That forgot more Football than he will ever know.
 



I am with Kendrick. They do have different bosses. Two totally different comparisons between Garrett and Lovie. One has Jerry Jones and the other doesn't.
 
Understand what Bum Phillips said about coaching.

There's two kinds of coaches, them coaches who got fired and them coaches who gonna get fired.

After losing in the playoffs to the eventually Super Bowl champion in the Raiders, Bum Phillips was fired by Bud Adams. Houston Oiler fans never forgave Adams for it. Bum's son Wade has been fired more than once even though his Bills were the last Bills team to make the playoffs.

With the loss to Philadelphia in the playoffs, I was not surprised by the Dungy firing in Tampa. (I would not have done it.) The Bucs won the Super Bowl the next season though the players were still loyal to Dungy.

However, look at these numbers.

Look at the combined record in 1979 and '80. Bill Walsh coached in 1979 and '80. A second year player in Joe Montana became the starter in 1980 though Steve DeBerg was playing all right. Remember what happened in the 1981 season. Remember who the opponent was in the NFC championship game. Remember what the Niners did in the Super Bowl that season.
