Forget Celebration Attendence...Will This Exposure Lead to more HBCU Players getting Drafted?

The Clown Prince of Crime
The truth of the matter is that the Celebration Bowl is not worth a crap without the Student-Athletes themselves. The Best Interests of the Student-Athletes should always be first and foremost before any damn Attendence comparison.

WTBS...Do you think the Celebration Bowl Exposure will lead to more HBCU Athletes getting drafted in the NFL? Not no damn Undrafted Free Agent but actually getting Drafted.

In addition, will more TV Exposure possibly...even though damn near impossible, bring more HBCU Student-Athletes into the Heisman conversation when applicable? I know, I Know even McNair only finished 3rd but that is why you set goals for yourself to reach.

I don't think so but scouts do check on HBCU's. Only thing about it is the 40's and bench press numbers and size doesn't always equal to what they could get elsewhere. I think it has nothing to do with exposure but more with the size and combine numbers these guys put up. Why would they look at a good swac corner that runs a 4.6 when they have plenty of SEC and other conferences that run 4.5 and under. HBCU's have to get better players who stack up to the other conferences players and not just look good on tape playing in conference and really have nothing special when they look at the numbers they put up in the combine events.

Perfect example. If you are good then they will find you. He looked good on film and had good combine/pro day numbers and size and they found him. It's just not as many players in the swac that have great play and combine/pro day numbers and also size altogether. They may play good but not be fast enough or they might be fast enough and not big enough.

NFL scouts visited at least 3 AAMU games this year. vs. Bama State, JSU & Coastal Carolina.

I have no idea how to respond to this. I'm really like at a loss for words. WTH is your logic?

The celebration bowl gives our hbcu schools more exposure. That should allow us better opportunity to recruit nfl caliber athletes. It's about the ability to recruit. Because of exposure AND budget increases, the bowl game is a plus. NO school or pro team can operate without its players, so what's the point? Are you advocating that we should not play in the bowl? Did u just need to post something?

Heisman? Grambling needs exposure? Everybody knows Grambling State football. Scouts will find you no matter what.

Don't worry you guys will start winning the Chitlin Bowl every year because MEAC recruiting will be devastated by this bowl game. It might be different West of the Mississippi, but on the east coast the kids compare us to strong playoff participating programs. So....chillax.....SWAC your day is coming very soon. We will all have the same level of talent. The Bowl game doesn't help us it hurts the MEAC. Five more years....can wait for it to be over. Then we will need 4 more years to recover.

You got to be kidding. You MEAC folks so convinced those kids come to your schools to play in the FCS playoffs. Oh well. You mofos about to go bankrupt trying to go to the pimp playoffs. Even the schools who are winning in that playoffs are pissed about the money and most are trying to figure out a way to head to FBS land if possible.

JR, leave KSmith in his feelings. He's built his character off his anti-Celebration Bowl comments. It's all about competing for a true national championship like our peers do.

I think the game did for Cohen for sure. I think the next 3 steps for HBCU football to move forward in putting more kids in the leauge are:
1. MEAC Championship Game (Winner plays in the Celebration Bowl)
2. HBCU Pro Combine, have one for all HBCU's to show their stuff in one location in addition to the other one's they have.
3. HBCU All-Star Game (All MEAC vs All SWAC).

Get these events on t.v. and you will get more eyes on more HBCU players.

Ksmith, so the bowl games that the PWC's have, what name do you call them? That Chitlin Bowl that you hate will began something. Because like Jr said, the playoffs are not making money and they might be coming up with a way to come up with a bowl game to make money themselves. North Dakota St. has won four in a row and have no more money than when they won the first one! The FCS Schools have to figure out what to do. Because do not have the money to be on the FBS Level, that is why they created FCS in the first place. So when the FCS schools come up with a bowl game, make sure you have a name for them as well!

I found that comment very sad by Ksmith. I just hope that he does not represent the MEAC in general. Schools in the MEAC need the celebration bowl money way more than the SWAC needs it. Anytime you are charging $750-to $1,2000 a semester to students to help fund your athletic budget that is a problem. Then the fact that NCAT/MEAC got outnumbered bad by Alcorn/SWAC in the Celebration Bowl even though.

1. They had a whole month to save up for the trip unlike Alcorn who had 2 weeks.
2, The average Alcorn Family just spent over $500 going to Houston (Gas, Hotel, Tickets, Food, etc.)
3. They had the shorter distance being Alcorn was 7 hours away on I20 and they was 5 hours away on I85.

With Lloyd Wells scouting HBCU players for Kansas City, Bill Nunn scouting for Pittsburgh, two Black guys, a White guy scouted HBCU players in the 1960s for the Los Angeles/San Diego Chargers. His name was Al Davis. He last became commissioner of the AFL and head coach, general manager and owner of the Raiders. Davis continued to scout HBCUs for the Raiders. It is not an accident that the Raiders and Chiefs won Super Bowls with quite a few HBCU players (Taylor, Lanier, Buchanan, Shell, Atkinson and others). Those two teams appearance in the first two Super Bowls with losses against the Packers, a team that had big contributions from HBCU players. San Diego won one out of their five appearances in the AFL Championship game.

Scouting now is more in depth and sophisticated now than it was then. There is a very good chance that they will find a SWAC or MEAC player.

Lets stay on topic. This is one of BH123 threads.

Like its MEAC cousins, I'm sure Da Mecca of Subsidized Funds/Welfare (Howard University) charged enough in student fees to give every school in the SWAC enough travel monies to travel to D.C. every year. Now I see why they are called Da Mecca.

The sad thing is WE don't realize that WE are the real trend setters. Just as we use to rule the Classic games, now even the Power 5 schools have copied that model....soon the other FCS programs will start running from that NCAA FCS Playoff model to copy yet another trend WE have started (#CELEBRATIONBOWL).

More power to OUR Celebration Bowl. And from now on, if my Jags are in the Celebration Bowl or not me and my family of 4 will be in attendance.
