Good coaching is very important and hop is a very good coach but alcorn has some very skillful ballers on their squad.. let's keep that in mind also just in case hop moves on..ijs

. Aaron Dietrich has been told by his sources, Arkansas State Offensive Coordinator Walt Bell and McNeeses State Head Coach Matt Viator are the finalists for the job.
ULM President Nick Bruno is expected to interview each candidate this weekend on campus and make a decision. The university
formed a committee to assist in filling the opening and has been conducting meetings and interviews in Shreveport.
KNOE is also told that Grambling Head Football Coach Broderick Fobbs interviewed for the position Wednesday.
Coach Todd Berry was fired about a month ago, during a disappointing season for the Warhawks. Berry was in his six season of leading the team.

I see that McNeese St. head coach will have the job. Unless they are trying to throw Hobson back in it. He will more than double his salary but will he be in the position to succeed at ULM? I was looking on their board last night and the ULM people were saying that ULM would be a fool not to go with Hopson.

Well looking at it now Hopson might be back in it. The job was offered to Arkansas St. OC and McNeese St. Head Coach was plan B. Arkansas St. OC declined because he felt ULM president wasn't committed to winning and that McNeese St. head coach might be using ULM to get a raise from McNeese St.

Jay Hopson might get the offer. I think he would win at ULM. He has the recruiting skills needed to win in the SBC.

Perhaps, but he wouldn't have the finances. It's a reason ULM has only had one winning season since moving up. The truth is it's a Southland school with too much pride to admit it's a Southland school.

Are you wondering why Coach Broderick Fobbs would consider just speaking with other universities about head coaching positions?
Let me tell you why, based on the current status of Grambling State University's lack of support for the football program:
1. The administration has yet to appoint an experienced and proven Athletic Director whom can effectively negotiate contracts and secure corporate sponsorships that will maximize income for out of conference games, secure funding for facility improvements and upgrades and who can sell the Grambling State University Football brand to corporate america.
2. Lack of funding for recruiting. Did you know that the assistant coaches are using their personal funds for travel expenses in efforts to recruit and sign 4 and 5 star athletes? There is a $10,000 minimum recruiting budget that is needed immediately to secure some of the top recruits nationwide!
3. The GSU Sports Complex is in severe need of external and internal repairs, improvements and upgrades immediately! Our facilities are not up to par. Most top high school recruits play and train in elite stadiums and practice facilities currently! This effects recruiting and our current players.
4. Did you know that the assistant coaches have to cut the grass on the practice field to insure that the players have a safe practice space? No legitimate football program assistant coaches have to shoulder this responsibility!
5. Did you know that the team needs practice, training and game equipment, benches, hydration and protein drink products for on and off season conditioning? Coach Fobbs and staff has done a tremendous job returning the football program to a winning and competitive status with minimal resources.
With proper funding and administrative support, Coach Fobbs will no doubt deliver a second to none football program! The aforementioned concerns are request Coach Broderick Fobbs and should be mandatory for any person that operates as head football coach!
The GSU administration not recognizing and/or not prioritizing these basic needs to operate and effectively run a competitive football program will induce Coach Fobbs to consider other opportunities at other institutions that provide adequate support, facilities and administrative advocates.
