did they really need to sign a contract to get some white t-shirts? they could have loaded up on those today at wal-mart. i'm sure they're on sale.
This is soooooo...... €oon.
SMH.......knee grows celebrate any little thing.
COONISH......................
I hope you guys realized this means we are going back to Russell...
Dude folks don't read. They are just quick to criticize anything SWAC with no context at all.I really take issue with folks on here who use the "C" word to describe certain situations, but never take the time to explain why they feel it is needed. What is it about this deal that is "coonish"? If this contract is regarding a Nike shoe deal, how is it relevant to the Russell contract?
It was a part of a series of articles on al.com regarding NCAA shoe/apparel contracts.Bruh, let's be real here. Great we have a "shoe" deal, cause we KNOW how we are about our shoes. But why do we NEED to put this on the board? Why did THIS have to be a topic? Ok, our shoe deal is now public. Whoopty do.
Uh....ok. Whoopty do.It was a part of a series of articles on al.com regarding NCAA shoe/apparel contracts.
Compare the ~$60K per school shoe deal with what some lower-tier FBS schools get. Understand... in Alabama AAMU and ASU each get more out of their deals than UAB and USA. I'd love to see what the Southland schools get if some Mountain West, Sunbelt, CUSA and MAC schools are getting so little.OK I will refrain from using the C 'word" however this deal is a slap in the face 600 shoes for JSU 382 student athletes means that each student gets 1.5 shoes thats not gonna cut it...
I can speak for my school and say that the Russell uniforms are falling apart and we have only had them since mid season last year...
To pretty much strong hold a conference with this deal is asinine...So pretty much no school in the SWAC will be in anything other than Russell unis for the 2015-2016... whatever..

We celebrate a "bone" getting thrown our way more than trying to get to the REAL table to eat.
So, I take it this "Nike shoe" deal is to your liking? My thing, why stop at the shoes? Why not go for unis? Equipment? Other things? We look like "Patchwork kids". Russell unis, Nike shoes, and my boy already explained what's going on with our (Jackson State) unis. What exactly is the "bone" that we are supposedly excited about and what is the "real table to eat"? Come on man. You are going to have to do better than this. If you are going to use the "C" word to label folks, concepts or practices, then you have to be willing to come correct.
Educate us (if you can) on what we are missing.
Say bruh, you HNIC around here. Why don't you use your influential powers to talk to the SWAC powers to be about getting this conference some better deals (unis, shoes, etc...), better officiating, better exposure. Do something. What exactly is the "bone" that we are supposedly excited about and what is the "real table to eat"? Come on man. You are going to have to do better than this. Ok, the deal is backwoods, backdoor moonshine selling, country. I guess we should just be happy that we get the scraps from the table to make our gumbo with. You right.Nope, I am indifferent to the deal. I don't have enough knowledge on how these shoe/apparel deals work to say whether or not the deal is a good or a bad one. And for the record, my argument isn't that one can't be critical of deals, decisions and so forth...especially since it is in the public's domain for consumption. If you want to be critical of the deal, fine. But we don't have to insult OUR OWN, by using the "C" word simply because we don't like it, or in most cases, don't understand it.
Secondly, as easy as it is to do, be careful trying to compare what the SWAC does with what other schools that compete at the FBS level do.

Dude, you're part of a media outlet. You have influence. More than these self-proclaim idealist on this board. You can get points across quicker than some of us. I guess some don't know what power we really yield.Influence? I have no influence.

My boy just told you the numbers. Every athlete gets one pair of shoes. Why not have 3-4 different pair for basketball players? 2-3 for baseball? 3-4 for football to match 3-4 different unis? Something better. Good we have a deal for a pair of shoes, but why stop there?Again...can you be more specific? The SWAC has a shoe deal. It has a uniform deal. What exactly do you consider a "better" deal?
