Is it the SWAC fault a team is not playing in the FCS Playoffs?

No worries. Great first season Coach Simmons! With the exception of Grambling, we've beaten everyone in the SWAC and that's a great start for a young team and staff. We definitely have ALOT to build on for next season and beyond. Keep looking forward PV; The FUTURE is bright on the Hill!

That is a BEAUTIFUL picture of a BEAUTIFUL stadium in your signature, S96. What a great recruiting tool. :D

They just don't want HBCUs to get exposure PERIOD

They are arguing just like us in the anygivensaturday board about some schools in their lesser known conferences not getting in, they are complaining about the same 7-4 and 6-5 teams we complained about getting in. The politics swing to certain conferences and that's just what they will do. No matter how they try to dress it up, this thing is subjective to a certain degree when you get to the lower ranks.

PV deserved a Playoff Spot. End of Story. Maybe teams like PV and Alcorn should just aim for 100 next year in scoring against every SWAC Opponent to get the FCS Committee's attention.

But we all know black folks get their feelings hurt when the score is ran up.

The SWAC Conference is a good Conference. It just sorry to some because the old "status quo" is getting obliterated.

You think FCS committee gives a fugg if any SWAC team scores a 100 on other SWAC teams? Or even MEAC teams?

Score that 100 on Sam Houston State, McNeese, North Dakota State, Western Illinois etc and maybe that will get their attention. Why everyone fussing at each other in here. Them WHITE MOFOS have said their peace. YOU AINT WORTHY of THEIR PLAYOFFS.

Well guess what. If you want to be in their playoffs. Either petition to move to a PLAYOFF BID conference or make sure no matter what that you play 2 FCS powers on their TURF and go WHOOP their arse. Putting a 100 on other SWAC schools means nothing to them. Absolutely nothing. That's like a non power 5 conference school putting a 100 on each of their conference opponents and still don't get picked over the champs from each of the P5 conferences plus Notre Dame for the bowl playoffs. Perfect example. U of H could have molly whopped folks by 50 and still got left out. Losing to UConn just confirmed they were not worthy in the minds of the big boy committee. Well it is the same mindset in FCS. SWAC and MEAC schools are not deemed to be worthy of playing with them FCS playoff schools. You can't change their minds by whooping people in your conference or playing D2 teams and beating them to submission.

Even when the status QUO schools were whooping ass (Grambling still is this year) You see we aint getting ranked like talking about. So again they don't care WHAT SWAC schools whoops ass. They think we sorry and this goes back to when the STATUS QUO schools were going to the playoffs. Namely JSU because SU and Gram could not go. Everytime we have sent a SWAC school including ALCORN with MCNAIR we have lost. Every time we have played them INCLUDING SU. We have not been successful. Gram and SU both lost to McNeese State. During the Pete years we split with NW LA State and sometimes they were ranked which helped us get our highest FCS-1AA ranking in the 90s.

See all you want to do is play other BLACK schools then be pissed off when we don't get an invite at large to the WHITE boy party. See how dumb you wanting to play HOWARD and other MEAC schools OOC? Now you see what they think about you. This has nothing to do with the BIG 3. Hell Gram and SU could go undefeated and we don't care about the PLAYOFFS. Coach Rob said that a long time ago. He was right. JSU has gone to the playoffs many times. So they aint jealous of anyone else going. So your rhetoric makes no damn sense. No one is hating on PV or Alcorn. It is called telling the TRUTH and you refuse to understand that the FCS don't give a fugg about 3 conferences. The SWAC, The MEAC and the IVY league. Them smart Ivy league mofos aint stupid enough to get pimped. And they have good teams every year. Harvard and Dartmouth are both 9-1. They probably could WIN a game in the playoffs. They don't go they say because of academic reasons yet their basketball teams go to March Madness that takes students away from campus more than a football playoff would. So you know it is about MONEY. Wake up dude and stop sucking on PV's johnson. It could have been any of us with that record and STILL BEEN SNUBBED. If Gram was eligible, they would be snubbed too. So would SU if we were 9-2. So would JSU.

It is my OPINION that he lied. Your argument is about PV not getting in. That is not my argument. My argument is about the entire PROCESS related to both the MEAC and SWAC. BCU faced Miami (a FBS school), Grambling (an FCS school ranked in the top 25) and Lane. They suffered a loss to A&T who is also a top 25 FCS program. How much more quality does a school need, man? Can anyone in here actually, in good faith, argue that BCU didn't deserve an at-large bid? Really???

Again, just because a process is what it is, that doesn't mean it can't be changed. Now, I will be the first to admit that a lot of this is likely do the fact that we (SWAC and MEAC) probably don't have one damn person on that selection committee to lobby on our behalf. But that is another argument. However, the NCAA (for all that it supposedly represents) has an obligation to operate with a sense of fairness. And to not have ONE HBCU selected out of 14 at-large bids is criminal.
My comment was solely about the overall process and what he said about it, not about PV specifically.

How about this... get another interview with him and ask him why he lied.

Is it the SWAC's fault for scheduling games on November 28th when the FCS Playoffs start? I say yes it is and it's a disgrace PV did not get in because they may be playing the best football of any HBCU right now. Just look back that the open dates during the season.
The SWAC doesn't care about the playoffs anyway. You just wanted to screw it up for the MEAC. The SWAC could care less. Only Jackson State ever gave a damn.
The crab mentality of the SWAC forced the MEAC to leave the playoffs or no Celebration Bowl..... NO...we didn't deserve at-large bids this season. But, we defintely had a champion that earned the right to compete among the Nations best FCS programs( NC A&T) They were ranked in the top 15 but our champ is booked up for Atlanta.
We're screwed for at least 6 years if not longer thanks to this Bowl game. smh.....the game is a great idea. But, take the MEAC runner up and be happy with it. Noooooooooo.......The SWAC ego couldn't handle getting a butt whipping from our runner up. Pathetic....selfish BS!!!

Why are you concern? You're a member of the swac and a non-football school anyway.

The SWAC controls what goes on with the HBCUs, especially the MEAC. What a joke of a statement.

Why are ya'll pretending you GAS about the playoffs? You don't want to play against the white folks. You think BCF is better because of our attendance numbers.
I know...that's stupid, but hey. What can we say. Stop pretending you're pissed about playoffs. If we really gave a damn both of us would be in playoffs and the runner ups in Atlanta. ESPN would have been fine with BCU and GSU....A&T and Alcorn go to the playoffs and represent their conference like we're suppose to do.

I will give you an award for this. I think you are right on. The FCS playoffs will be defunct and you will start seeing FCS bowl matchups materialize. Honestly, I think the Celebration bowl is great for both conferences.

i don't think so.. they don't have the support. Jacksonville State fans are BAMA fans, McNeese State fans are LSU fans. All of this FCS/playoff stuff is VERY secondary to them.

yeah good luck with us giving up our 40K+ attended Championship game for the lowly playoffs. I totally support our second best teams going to the playoffs and I wish them well.

Who is on the committee?

Not trying to speak for tbf, but I believe the point is - and I happen to agree with him, is that the committee will use the strength of schedule argument knowing what the actual schedule is BEFORE the games are even played. If you play 9 games against conference opponents, how can you use only 2 non conference games to determine SOS, while at the same time you essentially give a school like Western Ill, "credit" for finishing in 5th place just because of the committee's perception of how strong the conference is.

I saw their schedule.. they beat some top 25 teams and they played like 6 of them. If we want to get serious, we need to make better use of those OOC games and playing Miami is not a good use of a OOC game.

You're not a football school Tommy.

You forgot "the SWAC paid off "the Alcorn alum" (the MEAC commissioner) and ESPN to get the MEAC to commit to the Chittlin Bowl".

keep in mind this guy is a Howard alum.

It is if you beat them or play close. And you get a big fat check along the way.

Seriously. It ain't rocket science we can do both.

I have "officially" requested that information from the NCAA this morning. I tried to looking for it on the web, but couldn't come up with anything. Maybe someone else will have better luck.

Along with Tennessee Tech AD Mike Wilson (the committee chair)

Wilson, Tennessee Tech's AD since 2004, is part of the selection process for the fourth straight year, this time in the leading capacity. In addition, the selection committee consists of athletic directors Chuck Burch (Gardner-Webb), Troy Dannen (Northern Iowa), Brian Hutchinson (Morehead State), Richard Johnson (Wofford), Nathan Pine (Holy Cross), Marty Scarano (New Hampshire), Paul Schlickmann (Central Connecticut State), Dr. Brad Teague (Central Arkansas) and Jeff Tingey (Idaho State).
