Motorcycle Riders

The way these folks in Bama drive I'm gonna pass on a bike. Lol they scare me in my truck, so a bike I would be terrified.

Man, I am over here Jealous... Lol.. I have a goal of getting a harley at 40.
How close to 40 are you? My wife has one that she hasn't ridden in almost 3 years. I ride it occasionally we are both north of 40 and she is concerned it may be to heavy for her now that she hasn't been riding. I'm trying to get her on it again but I see she is apprehensive. I'm going to keep it around for another year or two, if she doesn't get back on it I'm going to sale it and get her something smaller. I know she will not be happy with the smaller bike long term, but as for now her confidence is shaken.
Someone will get a great bike for a very fair price if I sale it.

It's a way of looking at and living life and it is not for everyone.

True. It's too easy to get over invested in it, if one isn't careful. My history is sorta' documented here because I had an epiphany and literally started giving away all but 3 of the bikes I had. I interviewed the guys I gave them to for pennies on the dollar just to mentally satisfy my desire for the bikes to be treated w/ respect and zero racing/wrecking and for them to understand that I was passing on a huge blessing to them @ those prices. For instance, I took delivery of a 2004 GSXR1000 w/ zero point 3 miles on it dry - meaning no prep ready for riding as I put it in my mother's living room on 2 bike stands - removed battery, blah blah blah. I bought it in Dallas, put it in my custom bike trailer for 2-3 months, and then drove it southward to her house. I paid 4 cousins to help me tote the thing from the trailer to her front door so the front tires wouldn't touch the ground and put it in her living room. It was a conversation piece for all who visited. From what mother told me often, people would simply come by her house to sit, drink coffee/eat fish, and admire the bike w/ the Italian leather purple/gold riding jacket on top and a "joker" helmet sitting on a purple towel on top of the gas tank. I had business trips to Italy (Europe) so it was nothing for me to ship a bunch of unnecessary custom shat back to the home lol. :D What I discovered before my epiphany was that I'd become overly anal about bikes and accessories. I purchased a new one every Feb for 6 straight years and the trip thing is that I'd ride the new one for 1-2 weeks during the year - get it inspected/tagged/insured, put it under a custom cover, and watch it catch dust the remainder of the year - wouldn't touch it until the following year to get inspection or to get maintenance. On a few of them the 10K+$ custom paint jobs occurred blah blah blah. Careful.

I was stupid w/ throwing away $$$ on superfluous junk through the years.

I should've invested in this below and been done w/ it. Get rid of the silly orange stripes and change them to yellow. :D Perfect. :D

I feel inches below stupid lol. The benefactors of my negligent spending made off like bandits and I really hope they understand that they caught me in very jovial moods when I gave all that junk away. But every so often, I'll recant just a smidget and simply smh. Why in sans hell do you pay for a 2400$ feather-lite single rail trailer and then give it away w/in 1.5 years because you want bigger/better (to haul multiple bikes)? lol Stupid. smh

I feel you, only difference is I refuse to pay retail for anything. I sit back and wait for ballers like you to get board with their toys. Then I come in when you are just trying to get rid of it because you are ready to move on to something new.

lol I don't know about all that there. Ballers don't work lol. I've been working a loooooooooooooooooooooooong time. I don't know where my head was man... I bought a 2003 Hayabusa. It had 330 sum odd miles on it during a 4 yr stretch. I paid cash for it. I sold it to this one young dude for 2000$. Custom helmet and riding jacket included. I told him God was smiling on him, through me and that title. :D lol 3 years ago, I allowed a 2nd cuzzo to keep one of my spare crotch rockets and he wrecked it. I told him that was the biggest favor he could ever do for me and I'm thankful he wasn't hurt too bad :D .

I've been waiting for a few now to find a decent toy hauler. I want an old school one that I can revamp the entire inside and make it contemporary w/ stuff from Cantoni/Ikea. I'm not concerned about the exterior paint because I've learned to do a lil' sumthin' sumthin' w/ sand paper and lacquer lol. :D

Have any of guys ever laid one down?

In Houston, Dallas, and Fort Worth.

Was once doing a wheelie on Westheimer in front of the Galleria mist has accumulated on a man hole cover and awww damn. I damn near killed myself trying to save my bike. When I ran to the bike first thing I did was look for liquids on the ground. The bike was still running so I looked it over jumped on and rode easy for about 2 lights then hit it again. She was purring like a kitten so I continued my night, of course I did more wheelies that same night. I felt invincible. I didn't even know the wheel was bent til the next day. What could have been a totaled bike was only about a 1k, and a bottle of ibuprofen. Don't know how the hell I did it but I walked away with no serious injuries and only had to replace the left side extended frame slider, front wheel & tire, front fender and the extended spool on the swing arm.

Someone was watching over me that night. Doing wheelies with a bent wheel cold have ended very badly.

YES!!!

There is a rule "there are two types of riders...there are those who have laid a bike down and there are those who will."

I was riding and a car pulled out in front of us. The first guys missed it but she clipped my back tire. It spent the bike around just enough to toss me off. If she was going faster it would have been worse. But she was trying to do a rolling stop at a stop sign and attempting to time it just right for all of us to pass by.

The second one was really my fault. I had a "trick bike" which a bike I used just to do willies and stuff. We were on interstate and this white boy raised his up but he didn't have a stabilizer like mine so when he brought it down he lost control and laid his down. Well I knew I was about to wreck so I leaned toward the median. since it had rained the day before I knew it would be softer than concrete. They caught the wreck on camera. I did a split in the air like those cheerleaders and I popped my hip out of socket and when I landed I popped it back in place.

I thought I had a groin injury so for about 6 years I took pain medicine. Well in May 2011 I went to an orthopedic surgeon and he showed me my hip and it looked like a cloud. The other hip you could all the bones. So 2 months later I had total hip replacement.

I have witnessed so many motorcycle wrecks.

Not to put fear in to you but PLEASE never drink and ride!!!! I witnessed a dude go around a corner lose control and broke his neck.

Also ALWAYS ride with a helmet. A friend of mine in Arkansas used to ride without a helmet. He was a former Razorback and body builder. Well a car pulled out in front of him and laid it down. The bike landed on his chest but given his muscles not a bone was broken. What killed him was his head hitting the car.

I know this may bring a damper to the thread but it is reality.

Just left church & didn't see the big oil spot in the middle of an intersection so a simple left turn became chaotic. Brand new custom leathers were jacked up & I twisted the left ankle something awful as the thing was draggimg me on the ground some 75+ feet. smh I still have a limp & pain from that fall 22 years ago. And I forgot to mention that a car almost ran me over in the middle of the street - daylight. She did panic & hit her accelerator instead of the brake, the officer told me. The ex-wife laughed at me as the cops dropped me off, limping beat up and torn up. I drove myself to the ER & committed myself to never going back to that church cuz it was the devil that made me fall; purchasing a new ninja the following day lol; fixing the scarred up ninja; & getting rid of the wife. I kept my commitments :D .

I'm down to 2 bikes Bane. I got rid of a custom R1 w/ 700 sum odd miles for 1K$. I determined I was going to kill myself on it when I got it up to 186 during one of those moments when I had rage lol so it was best that it had to go. I'm down to one + a dirt bike. I haven't touched either in exactly one year. How dumb smh.

Oddly enough, nothing. I'm on 10acres & will have the adjoining 7.0acres in a few so I have a looooot of space to keep a bunch of stuff.

I'm bored w/ antique car, truck, & tractor restos so I've decided to shift gears and do a toy hauler. Earlier this year I revamped an aluminum 3 horse trailer w/ sleeper. Beautiful interior w/ leds everywhere outside. I had an epiphany for a toy hauler after browsing Ikea. Don't want a new hauler as I want to demolish the interior & give it a modern day european flair :D . I'm still looking but a lot of folks sure are proud of their junk, geeeez.

I feel you, tried to get my wife to move outside city she says not as long as we have kids in school. I can't wait for them lil monsters to get out. I tell them all the time they better pick a St. School in TX so they can use the Hazelwood Act because mommy and daddy ain't saving for them to spend. Make good grades and college will pay for itself.
