SU Band history can't be disputed. It is not like all of the sudden SU Band has gotten invites or accolades. It goes way back to even before my time. Whether folks in our conference like it or not. That band has been the most CONSISTENTLY good band in the SWAC and in all of HBCU. Even a bad year by SU standards is better than most folks good years. LOL. And whether folks like it or not. FAMU, Grambling and SU bands are the most FAMOUS of HBCU bands. Just the way it is. Arguing that point is moot. Those 3 bands have accomplished more than the other HBCU bands with the awards, the performances and the overall media exposure. That's not to say there are not other good HBCU bands. Because we know that bands have evolved. Some for the better. Some for not. It is interesting now that social media is out there. Seems like things have gotten mean spirited.

I think Honda is an excellent recruitment opportunity for colleges. It gives colleges an opportunity to showcase the school to students, not just those who have an interest in playing in the band.

I bet if they paid, Broke U...they would come...lol! This every 5 yrs crap SU tryna prove is stupid!!!! I could see a band skipping every other yr or 2.....but that is about enough! SU too broke to go to New Orleans....so i doubt they go to Honda, Sooooo, Haymer is managing the money right, yall should applaud him!

Honestly even with SU being a big rival of ours, I really can't wrap my mind around this whole Haymer thing. I seriously don't get some of you "grown" folk.
 
I was told that SU wouldn't be asked back but I'm sure it had nothing to do with you all cursing during the banquet after your group got booed during the talent show. Before you lie I was sitting right there when they did that Sssss U ssss u F--k who F--k all of you. Honda folk didn't take kindly to that.

If you didn't hear those boo's during the performance it's because you didn't want to. So why did SU cuss at the end. I was there.

You do realize that that was their musical expression of N.O. and the 2nd line culture, right?
The whole point there was individual musical expression. Although one would need to be
musical to effectively play an instrument, I don't think that "musicality" was the primary emphasis.

I did hear some boos during their performance, and that, was the classless act. The kids all work
hard and deserver better than that. However, the boos may have been for something else as I also
saw several attendees looking "back" into the crowd at "something".

The bottom line is, SU has nothing to prove to anyone, except SU! For those who like our style, great!;
for those who don't, great! No hard feelings.

You're joking, right? From Bourbon Street to Esplanade, I've never heard a New Orleans band sound that crappy!

Well, I have never seen a marching band that walks their percussion section down the sideline
while the rest of the band is on the field marching either; does that make them any less of a band?
No, it doesn't. Do you see my point yet? If not, its ok; I understand.
