The problem with offensive minded coaches is they like to think they can call the plays as well. I think it is easier to call defensive plays from a Head Coach perspective than offensive. Even though I don't like Big Worm doing it. But Pete did it some too. And we see Saban having more influence with Bama that way. But most offensive minded coaches think they are Wild E Coyote GENIUS. LOL. You can hire a good OC and let him and the QB coach do their thing. And then the HC who is from Defensive stand point may be more objective if he has to step in and approve a crucial play call. Isn't Hopson a defensive minded coach? The Head Coaches who have been DCs seem to have won more in our conference.

See Ron Zook or Will Mushamp at Florida.... Urban,Jimbo, I could go on on how many successful coaches are former OC vs DC... Dantone, Saban, Strong before he got to Texas . Look at what an Offensive minded coach has done for those Gators 4-0 vs a potential 2-2 start under mushcamp...

Urban is smart enough to let his OC do the job. Hell he keeps two of them. LOL.
Ron Zook and Muschamp just were not good Head Coaches. Your Florida boys just seem to do better with an Offensive minded Head Coach.

You still have a lot of Defensive coaches with rings vs the offensive ones. Urban is probably the most successful one. Fisher and Miles were OCs before. But as you said Saban was a defensive coach. Dantonio was Tressel's DC when we won the title against Miami. That's why Michigan State keeps a good defense. Strong was a DC as well. Brian Kelly at Notre Dame is a former DC.

The DCs to me still have been more successful. The OC Head Coaches just have had more flash. LOL

In the SWAC. Look at the coaches who have won titles.

Jay Hopson former Defensive Coach
Big Worm - former DC
Monte Coleman - Defensive Coach
Henry Frazier- I think he was an offensive coach. Played QB
Doug Williams- obviously an Offensive Coach
Rod Broadway - Defensive Coach
Rick Comegy- Defensive Coach
Pete Richardson- Defensive Coach

I didn't even know Chang played football did he make it to the NFL or something?....Hawaii is irrelevant in FBS anyway so what are you talking about lol that dude is garbage and probably will be coaching Pop Warner somewhere...your own players don't like him lowkey

Although Fobbs is very capable of being an OC (that's what he was), he defers to Dooley and gives him autonomy.

Look at who was Doug's defensive coordinator his first stint...Todd Bowles. Though that was only one year look at what Todd put together in the one year for the rest of Doug's first tenure.

Chang is known throughout the college football ranks. Who is your OC again? Chang runs the same offense that ran ya'll off the field in Cincy. progams look for coaches like Chang. Chang's problem was that he didn't have an oline last year. This year, he had the bodies but they are learning. They will make it to Houston this year but next year is the year we kick major azz! The line and all skill positions will be deeply entrenched in the OMJ system.

man anybody with a working brain saw this trainwreck coming a mile away. Cats put foolish school pride in the way of real facts and thought folks was buying any of that crap. Everybody saw through that foolishness. I said it was a dumb firing and hiring when it happened, and now I will still say the Comegy firing and Jackson hiring was DUMB!

Real dumb....how do you fire a coach with what one losing season. Yet, say how the coach over a 10 year period had the best regular season of any coach in the conference.

TP please explain.
