The Medical Corridor has taken a huge step in the last few days. Ten years in the making. Only difference this time is everybody is on board and a six member commission has been established.

The committee will have one rep each from Jackson, Hindus County, The Airport authority, JACKSON STATE UNIVERSITY and UMMC.
THIS IS IMPORTANT BECAUSE OF WHAT IT WOULD MEAN FOR MEMORIAL AND THE FUTURE OF JSU FOOTBALL.

UMMC is pushing this with vengeance this time.

Cant hide the fact that this will drive the push for a stadium for JSU. Maybe not a $400 million dome but one like the first plan we had for a 35000 to 38000 seat open air stadium if yall remember.

Trying to find that rendering now.
It was priced between $70 to $80 million.
That in my opinion is way more realistic in today's economy.

JSU will only continue to grow. It would not surprise me if in 15-20 years, JSU has 20,000 students.

The Big Question is where to put JSU's New Stadium. I say the former home of Metro Center would be perfect. MetroCenter is dead and gone. Might as well tear down the remnants and build JSU's Stadium.

There is no question abour WHERE.........IT IS ABOUT HOW MUCH.

JSU already has the land needed off terry road and gallitan. That is the city and jsu master plan. To finally link jsu to downtown in a unbroken line. Why on earth would we build another stadium and locate it off campus again.

That make no sense at all. Lol

Actually Braveheart. That may not be a bad idea. I don't know what the JSU folks think about it. But that Metro Center land would be a good spot. Not too far from campus either. Easy to access from 220.

Well it wouldn't be that far from campus Frat. Just was looking at how big that Metro Center land is. But if yall think the spot you have by Terry Road and Gallatin is cool enough. Then you are right. An on campus stadium is ideal.

The Metrocenter would be good for another satellite campus but not the stadium.

Also, I ain't buying it and not because I support staying in Memorial FOREVER... lol

But when does anything happen in Jackson? Jackson is all talk. They have great PLANS for Jackson and they make GREAT announcements but nothing ever happens. We shall see.

Yeah unfortunately the home front does have that reputation.
I was one of the folks who thought the DOME would be a good idea if the STATE/CITY AND JSU could be partners in it. The Coliseum is ancient. Although I still love that place. It would be something all parties could benefit from. But as usual the do nothing politicians and alike are all talk.

+100000000 on the city of jackson side doing nothing.

At least this plan is not dependant on the city alone though. Saying UMMC and the AIRPORT AUTHORITY is just another way of saying the STATE is fully on board with this plan.

That is why UMMC is really in the drivers seat with JSU in the left seat since memorial is the road block in the middle.

Hindus county and jackson are in it for the tax revenue after stuff is complete.

Too far to walk from campus. We lose a lot with our stadium being off campus.
 
Man if the Stadium is not on campus then dayum building it.... And the metro Center lot will need to much infrastructure work. Man that thing is sitting on all that red clay and his hilly than a mug..... The spot is there and would be similar to the Setup Alabama State has. I would have the open end toward campus and have the other end lower than the rest of the Stadium so you could see downtown...
 
I would think building where the Walter Payton complex is. Build a foundation around that area an install turf to play and practice on. Nothing like having an on-campus stadium. More accessible to the student, players, and band. Also, saves money that be used for those uses. It could go towards something else for the athletics department or sports. Metro Center is an idea spot but it's too far and like mentioned needs hella work.
 
If people can make it to memorial for a game they won't have issues going to hwy 80 and 18 just saying. Like I said earlier it doesn't really matter to me even though I would rather have it on campus the metro center is not a bad location at all
 
Do we have money for all the demolition that will be needed for the metro center? That's more of a last resort location. If we have land we need to try to build the stadium on campus.
 
They need it on campus. Jsu deserves to hold on money just as other. On campus would alleviate having to bring equipment to stadium and also band and teams dnt have to use buses .id they wanted a off campus site I would suggest behind the convention center downtown

I agree with open air 37,000 seat stadium but please not that design. I say a 37,000 seat stadium for around 80 million and a extra 5 to 10 million to make it very modern. Because usually bands take up two sections which is usually listed at 1000 seats per section so it would hold 35,000. It's time for JSU to offer its fans that on campus game atmospehere. I know with the current administration there will be plenty of luxury suits and upscale meeting area because the prez likes that type shit. Lol. I'm happy no matter what as long as the design embarks on JSU brands including its legends, fans, sponsors and etc. nothing ole and ancient. And would be nice if they stray away from the red brick for the stadium. After all this is a football stadium not the college of liberal arts building. The red brick and white concrete was nice at first but there's nothing wrong with one or two wow factors in some of the structure with one being the stadium.

There's nothing wrong with the mall area honestly. Though I would rather see it downtown, the mall would allow for a smoother traffic flow. It would also showcase the stadium being right at the highway but downtown would showcase it to cultures that where not evening looking for the stadium. This would also indirectly bring JSU brand truly into downtown. If the stadium is right behide the telecom center it could possibly open up new oppurntunitys for JSU to have other buildings down by the stadium which would bring JSU land from cooks funeral home all the way to the stadium . Would be nice to tie into downtown like Georgia State And SMU . There a lot of small private businesses back behide tel com center that would probably take JSU offer to relocate quicker than some of those older people cross from the Fire station. On top of the stadium and the new Westin hotel would benefit from each other.
