I understand. People always asked Liddell too but he never made a PSA about it. Truth is the VERY first Honda pissed Liddell off. JSU won the popular vote coming in FIRST place. SU was not on the ballot. But the committee disregarded the public vote and invited Grambling. After that, Liddell never put the BOOMs name back on the ballot unless Honda let him know that the BOOM was going regardless of vote.

But these Jukebox announcements like someboday cares... LOL
Actually, i preferred when Liddell chose when he wanted to go. No point in going every year but I understand why Little would want to go his first year. Let's see how he handles is in coming years.

The Jukebox announcement is for the SU folks. LOL. Like I said, it keeps his phone from blowing the fugg up. Doc used to get tired of them calls too. LOL. He makes his PSA and folks read it and move on. It isn't for the NON SU supporters. Don't read the SU Facebook page and you don't have to see the PSAs. Simple as that.

They didn't need a facebook page to announce they were not going. They were not on the list. Carry on....

Dude, like I said, you don't know SU folks. If you don't say isht, you will be asked 10 million questions. Trust me when I tell you how aggravated the black man would get when folks asked him why he wasn't going somewhere. I can understand Nate going ahead and keeping the SU audience informed so he don't get texts, emails, and calls from all over asking why SU name ain't on the ballot. Yall need to stop being so sensitive to what SU is doing. Broussard started SU folks being more active with all the social media and now they have all ran with it. Actually the Jukebox started it a few years back with their own website to keep folks informed when Jackson was the band director.

Why Grambling or FAMU didn't say anything is on them. FAMU probably wants to stay as low key as possible these days as they rebuild their band reputation.

lol....you wasting your keystrokes JR. This nugga Tigerpride's comprehensive skills stink like a bag of fotrocks.

As a matter of fact yeah he was asked. No one notices when y'all are not on there because no one cares.

O, Ok. Why hasn't the Honda Battle of the Bands sold out the years Southern has performed? But has sold out when Southern wasn't on the ticket?

Dude, people went writing letters to the JSU president one time when Liddell didn't put JSUs name on the list. Liddell didn't say word. The ONLY time I have ever heard Liddell comment on non-participation is when someone asked him why they didn't get an invite to Obama's inauguration. He said getting invited does not mean you are good or not good.. look at who they invited.. LOL Other than that, he never felt the need to explain. Also, if this had stayed in the Jukebox forum where it belongs, it would have reached their audience. I saw they were not on there and knew all I needed to know.. they don't wanna go. THEE end.

Who knows but what I do know is Honda wants SU there (sent reps to SU more than twice). I know that Honda has honored 3 our SU's band directors (how many they honor for jstank). I also know that after we've performed our performances made the news and we've won the fan voting. If your band has done none of the above.......no one cares.

Honda sold out the first year and JSU's first year on the ticket! Go figure, who really cares about Southern?

Well if folks stop reading their Jukebox friends pages with information on it and re-posting it for their benefit. This would not happen. Just because you saw and thought that. Doesn't mean our folks did. Sheesh. Dr Liddell wasn't the band director when all this social media started getting used by all our schools. Plus he was old school. Jackson was starting to do the same thing before he retired by getting info out there. Stop hating on Southern for putting the info out for OUR folks. We can't control where it goes once it hits the net. Yall make a mountain out of a mole hill. If Doc Greggs was alive and still the band director and he put out the info. None of yall would say isht. It is the dislike of Haymer. Which is petty. Folks didn't like Liddell as your band director AT all including some JSU folks. But it wasn't petty like all this stuff has become. If the school has decided to put out all their information for folks to see. So be it. The band has people doing it. The Athletic Dept. The school paper. Everyone is announcing everything on social media at SU now. LOL.

BTW, this announcement did not come out of our PRIVATE and CLOSED to public Jukebox forum. This came out the public one. Sheesh.

Much like everything else dealing with band...when it's a concern about the Jukebox...everyone (even folks from other schools) wants to know.

When it's a concern about the boom...only boom alum want to know or give two ishts about it.

Go play with a band of your ilk. Like Dega.

What about the NCAA Hall of Champions? Jackson State has been enshrined there. I guess no one cares about that other band?

What is a Honda Battle of the Bands without the Sonic Boom of the South? Exactly! Go Vote for the Boom now! fal.cn/Bz04

Two things:

1. I was at the NCAA Hall of Champions with some of my students this past summer and I saw nothing for marching bands. That might have been a temporary thing

2. I do not think the HBOTBs has sold out the Georgia Dome. Maybe 30-40k but not selling out the Georgia Dome

You are correct, sir! This has been noted some time ago. If I am not mistaken, it was temporary and during Black History Month.
It is also my understanding that from time to time different "organizations" are rotated for the "Black History Month" display.

Well the spotlight is BACK ON SU,, HOLLYWOOD IS INTERESTED IN SU BAND. Go to SU band FACEBOOK and Haymer is TALKING ALL ABOUT IT.

But folks are going to the NCAA Hall of Champions and there is no year long exhibit or enshrinement.I had some JSU folks look for it as well. Just saying.

I have no dog in the fight for the Honda. If you guys think JSU was the main reason it was sold out. Then so be it.

Good pub for bands is great.

You know all this going back and forth is not even necessary for us. LOL.

SU Band history can't be disputed. It is not like all of the sudden SU Band has gotten invites or accolades. It goes way back to even before my time. Whether folks in our conference like it or not. That band has been the most CONSISTENTLY good band in the SWAC and in all of HBCU. Even a bad year by SU standards is better than most folks good years. LOL. And whether folks like it or not. FAMU, Grambling and SU bands are the most FAMOUS of HBCU bands. Just the way it is. Arguing that point is moot. Those 3 bands have accomplished more than the other HBCU bands with the awards, the performances and the overall media exposure. That's not to say there are not other good HBCU bands. Because we know that bands have evolved. Some for the better. Some for not. It is interesting now that social media is out there. Seems like things have gotten mean spirited.
