Birmingham, Ala. - Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Commissioner Duer Sharp has announced an agreement between the league and Russell Athletic which will maintain Russell Athletic and its brands as the official team uniform and apparel provider through 2015.

The agreement provides an exclusive official team uniform and apparel provider to the 10 member institutions and the conference office in all 18 varsity sponsored SWAC sports. The agreement allows SWAC schools to acquire equipment and balls for competition and practice sold under the Russell Athletic, Bike, Spalding, Brooks, Dudley, and Moving Comfort brands.

In return, SWAC school coaches and officials shall utilize the Russell Athletic brand for all game uniforms, apparel, and practice accessories, including workout and team travel apparel.


FIRST, was there an extension at some time?
With this detail, what is next for the conference? Could there be a new supplier for the SWAC or can university go their own way? We have expressed our dislike of some selections and output quality of uniforms. Who should be next. I just don't see the fascination with Nike Uniforms.... The Adidas uniforms are much better than the Nike uniforms... Keep in mind we aint getting the NICE Nike uniforms... we would get the plain cheep Nike Uniforms. The Adidas simply LOOK better and fit better.

Nike and Grambling go way back, and during the boycott Nike contacted Grambling to provide unis. Nike CEO Phil Knight and Eddie Robinson were good friends

And that would be very SWAC office like if they announced a new deal with Russell during the CB smh lol They've done well recently with the SCG and basketball tourney move to Houston and the CB. I hope they seriously wouldn't pull that

Presidents make that decision. If TSU is changing to Adidas, there will be no conference-wide resigning with Russell.
 
Only thing I don't like about those Grambling unis is the number style. From a working perspective, it's hard to tell a 3 from and 8, a 6 from an 8, etc., when the players are moving. Had the same issue with the PV unis a few years back, especially the camo ones. I like the unis but the numbers make it tough.
 
That all white is boss!!! I like simplicity.

I'd also like to know if Russell provides all them unis SU, Gram, sTu and PV wears.
