@Basebone1898 May is gonna have his work cut out keeping Garrett on the sideline. He's shown a lot of promise throughout fall camp. Garrett's biggest issue is confidence. That will come with time. Garrett is elusive for his size (6'3, 225) and has a strong arm. Also is tall enough to see over the line. Perfect for the pistol.

Wow. Sounds good. Good luck to the Dogs. I really like what May brings to the table, but his size and his injury report can work against him. May mimics RGIII and has the tools to be good at the FCS level.

If the kid could stay healthy, he would give us fits, but that's not his story. If things don't work out at AAMU, I won't be shocked if he transfers to somewhere like Winston Salem or Tuskegee.

I'm trying to figure out what the hell fuller has to do with ivy's playing time.
Idk why he tears ivy down but ignore the fact that the Hawaiian doesn't have the heart to lead this team,can't handle pressure, and threw two picks.

One thing I noticed with some jsu fans, they don't like, have faith in,or trust black quarterbacks. They want the non black guy to play never fails!
 
JO is NOT a fan of Ivy and he makes it known every chance he gets. I'd like to see Ivy do some things better as well but the dude is still one of the best QBs in the Swac right now. I'd like to see the offense with a better sense of urgency this year. I'm definitely not a fan of Chang but I'll give him time to correct that. Coach Aycock said he wanted the OL/ offense to be more of an attack style offense instead of a finesse one but right now that's not the case. Hopefully the new intensity of the D lights a fire in the offense because they need it

It's not so much as me not being a fan of Ivy but he's just not there like he should be . There's a lot missing from his football IQ. I mean look at how he played during the scrimmage not much improvement technique wise. Honestly there are a lot of things he has to improve if he wants to lead the team until the last game of the year but as I said his biggest negative is telegraphing his WR and as a result he was picked off quite a few times but MTSU and TnSU secondary will show you exactly what I'm trying to say. It would be something like if I was just making shit up bout him but the kid is just not a smart knowledgable QB he just as a strong arm . They even have a new QB number seven who carries out his fakes and play action twice as good as Ivy. Like I said it has nothing to do about me not likeing him. He actually went into the scrimmage with a open mind because I know players improve so I wasn't very judge mental off performance based on last year. And yall keep saying one of the best QB in swac but that doesn't mean anything depending on how the other QBs are. Because the only way you can say he's the best is in yards but it's more to being a good QB than just yards. Like I said you will see. The dude you are talking about replacing Ivy with had 3 picks in the scrimmage which is 1 pick more than Ivy but yet you want to praise him while tearing down Ivy. Ivy was also the only qb to throw for a TD in the scrimmage as well. All I am saying is that ivy is not a bad qb. Yes he locks in on receivers a LOT which I'm sure irks a lot of fans but that is something that can be corrected. This is only his 2nd year playing, hes a junior in status only so he still has time to learn. Also I don't think Chang is a good OC, not yet anyways. So much of his shortcomings could be attributed to the system. And me saying he is one of the best qbs in the swac is not only in terms of his yardage but his total body of work which includes his completion %, TDs thrown, rushing TDs, passing ratio etc. The backups will be just that, the back ups. If he can't get the job done, I am definitely not opposed to him getting pulled. But the problem could be just as much of a system related problem rather than talent. And plus this was only the first scrimmage lol. There's plenty of time to work out the wrinkles
 
I'd put Williams at second string to see what he does. Morikawa isn't better than ivy so why play him? A flaw is a flaw and trading one for another could be disastrous.

Ivy locks in and stares down receivers. His throws aren't perfect but he's no scrub.

Morikawa doesn't operate well under pressure . He has a nice look off, he spreads the ball, has zip but during a blitz his knees buckle,he panics
Which flaw is worse?

Williams looked nice running the option but can he run this offense? Can a freshman handle pressure, game atmosphere? I'd play them all just to appease fans if I were Chang. Just so we can see if/why ivy should be the starter. Only the fans think we have a QB controversy.
 
Ivy needs some mental therapy. I could be wrong, but I still believe that the broken leg injury has taken away some of his will. It's got to be rough for the kid because that was a horrific injury that many in the Superdome thought was the end of his career. The kid I saw before that injury was giving Tulane pure hell.

However, Ivy is still not a bad QB and doesn't look bad in that clip above. Unless I am getting him mixed up, he seems to be slinging the rock on those short routes. That's what JSU needs because the speed is there for some good gains.

I like what I see from JSU right now. The Tigers has a nice roster, solid depth chart and you can tell that they hit the weight room in the off season. The old man has beefed up the Tiger for the 2015 season. Let's see if he can coach his product.

Oh, JSU is playing extremely physical at camp. Goodness! I think they are going a little too hard at camp. Lol.
 
Folks lets be real this scrimmage will not determine where the Offense or Defense is , #1 They play each other every day so they know every play, #2 The defense for JSU and was Ranked #3 Total Defense last year and could have been #2 by a few yards yield to another team. # 3 There won't be too many SWAC teams that can match this years Defense not being funny. #4 Ivy has improved very much and I didnt see any 30-40 yards every down pass attempt so thats great and if they can move the ball because they certainly was is very important but how was the running game? #5 Ivy will be ready against SU this year! ( he will not play the entire 1st two games period) so back ups need to get their shine on now!
 
Defenses will almost always have a leg up on the offense in a team scrimmage. Especially the first scrimmage.

I was in attendence at our first scrimmage yesterday. Offense started off slow but rebounded quite nicely as the game went on. We had quite a few offensive plays made in the 2nd half of the scrimmage. Our pass rush should be much improved, which will help the secondary.

We have some upperclassmen from the Jones regime that have bought into the Spady & Johnson's philosophies. The staff has done a good job helping them adjust into year 2. Should be an exciting year.
 
No need to panic. There is no QB controversy at JSU. Ivy did some good things. He is not perfect. He is still learning and looking to improve. However, Morikawa is not that guy. Jordan Williams threat as a runner is amazing. But I am for using one QB not exchanging after a simple mistake. He needs to continue to grow. Ivy will be just fine.

Ballard brings mad toughness, size, collegiate experience, and big time awareness to the SWAC table. He is the type of QB who will get a first down on 3rd and long by finding a close reciver on a broken play.

May is the future for A&M. He needs to take this time to work on his frame. He is still more dangerous than Ballard because he is faster and throws a better ball.

*sigh* TP we beat jsu in memorial stadium running the bb gun with a 6th string QB who never started a college football game his 5 years at A&M.....

Don't nobody care what you did in Jackson LAST YEAR! keep saying that if it makes you feel better. U beat us in 2006 in Jackson too but what happened in 2007 and 2008? Thought so.

but that win didn't make me feel better! actually it was sad watching Leachman throw darts the whole game...he was wrong for doing yall like that but I guess when you never started a college game you have to take it out on jsu with zero Fs given lol
