Oregon to have glow-in-the-dark football uniforms?

Reflecting uniforms aren't new to college football for night games, but no team has ever ventured into glow-in-the-dark territory. Until now, maybe?

Oregon — the modern standard in cutting-edge uniforms — has teased glow-in-the-dark uniforms twice, including on its official scholarship offer letters.

There's no confirmation at the moment that these will be worn on the field, of course.

Must be nice to have the CEO of the biggest shoe company in the world being an alum who gives back (I know the UA CEO does the same with Maryland)

Saying Phil Knight gives back is an understatement. Oregon is like the test lab for all of Nike's cutting edge technology and products. You almost can't put a price on what that's worth.

I can say that the uniforms thing probably played as much a role in Oregon's rise as their coaching. I know they (UO) will be thanking him for it.

Why can't we get any alums to start a clothing company and be worth billions in under 15 years like UA? lol

LOL if only. Its interesting ...back in the day when BET was still black-owned that was the main platform for Black College Sports. Then they went through the ownership change and cut back. Now we're beholden to whichever station is willing to give us a few games per season. It helps to your own people in high places.

BET stopped showing football long before the sale to Viacom because black folks were complaining.

Sports Illustrated did a piece a while back on how the way Oregon has transformed the football program through a number of means, including uniforms, has contributed to the success they've experienced over the last 15 years.

All those gimmicks still won't get them a title.

It's already been a win win for Oregon. Their football program went from irrelevant to relevant, More money and just not Phil Knight's money is being poured into Oregon. Enrollment and exposure due to the success of the football team and them uniforms have enhanced Oregon as a University on a whole. As someone else posted. You really can't even put a price on what this has really meant for that school.

Com on JR, this is me. I understand all of that. I just said it won't win them a ring.

You are kinda right their best chance was against Cam Newton team...and the are alot of other teams who are receiving Nike love too now adays with special uniforms and million different combos so kids have more options now..

Oregon does need to win a title soon...The Nike uniform craze will wear off..

I disagree. Oregon didn't just sign a deal and sitting on it. They are partners and continue to advance in terms of uniforms and equipment. Kids love that stuff. They'll keep making their facilities better. Eventually they will win a championship. Been in two championship games already.
