Shaq Roland No Longer at PV

Good QB or not JR they throw the dang ball...

Again if you are a top WR coming out of High School. Why go to SC is my point. THe SEC is down QB wise we all know. But SC has struggled at that position so badly that it has caused them championships. Their defense got no help from the QB. If they had an AJ McCarron they would have won the SEC a few years ago. Just saying you go to schools that get the ball to the WRs and schools that get you to the next level WR wise. Spurrier SC teams are no where near the Florida teams he had throwing the ball. He has become more conservative than even Nick Saban. LOL. Roland should have went to Clemson. Look at their WR production.

smh Man.... smh Some people brah... you cannot convince them in their wrong. :(

Ok Mr. Smarty pants. Have you even followed SC's program the last 5-8 years? If you have, then you would know why Top WRs are not flocking to their program like the other SEC schools. Poor Alshon Jeffrey had to wait to he got to the NfL to finally play with a QB that can get him the ball consistently. LOL.

If Alabama state wasnt in Trouble already, I'm sure the new coach would have recruited him somehow from PV, or is Comegy had some real scholarship $ at Valley would have had him. BYE

Funny. Here in south carolina the complaint i hear is that Spurrier won't run the ball to protect his hapless qbs. He wants to throw every d9wn despite nfl talent at tail back.
Those folks don't what they're talking about, Spurrier has fallen in love with using a strong run game to balance his offense.

He flunked out.

PV not handing out grades like they do at some FBS programs.

C-Leb, I don't know if you're being facetious or not, but I admit, my first thought when I read this was about his grades. PVAMU has a stellar curriculum; I was thinking maybe he didn't get the same educational "experience" at an HBCU as he did at South Carolina. It may have been too much for him.

Who knows if he would've dominated the SWAC anyway? Can't miss what you never had

Jr, he was going to sc no matter what and that's all I will say but its a sad case if you ever dig deeper.....it was a favor to try and save him but you can only do so much before reality sets in

Exactly, the young man came to PV thinking he could "skate" threw but he got a rude awakening. No babysitting at PV....He flunked out as C-LeB28 stated....We've found his replacement so we're still good at WR.....Carry on... Nothing to see over here at PV (grins).....

Welp!

Prairie View has a lot, and I mean A LOT of resources that will help students with their studies (I was sorting through my youngest daughter's Freshman year folder, still have all those pamphlets, business cards from her Freshman orientation ), but no, they sure do not give out grades there! But as many workshops and tutoring programs they have (even the University College Residential Community has its own academic enhancement program), they don't care how fast you can run or how many touchdowns you can score! It doesn't matter if ya momma look good and ya daddy got money.............you don't get a pass there when it comes to being an athlete. That's why I've always liked PVAMU; they place a very, very high emphasis on academics and not athletics.

Don't 100% of college offensive coordinators do this? lol

My goodness.... s.................................m...............................g...........................d............................h................ Have to acro it slowly so some can understand lol.

Instead of seeking the "whys" and "why nots" for the young man not being @ PVAMU anymore to play "ball," I think it would've been intelligently mature to just wish him well as he continues to ascend to whatever goal(s) he has. We may be witnesses to yet another young man of color who may not be in advanced school due to other issues, football aside. Through the years, we've seen the physically gifted not reach a lofty (academic and athletic) destination due to some type of academic shortcoming or off the field issue(s). I sincerely hope he rights his ship and completes his education, wherever, even if it means a return to PVAMU not on the playing field. Good luck, Mr Roland.

According to the JBHE, the following is asserted to be true and I wish the # was > 95+% for those who enroll for advanced studies: Over the past 15 years black men have improved their graduation rate from 28 percent to 35 percent. Thank God for APR for attempting to help right the ship because these young men and women would've continued to be used for their physical gifts w/out being rewarded for their academic dedication.

Like this PV poster said elsewhere at 9:48am...

PVAMU is an institution of higher learning, not highest baby-sitting. One has to be a STUDENT in order to be a STUDENT-athlete @ PVAMU and we do not offer "General Studies" major lol. WTF is that?

Exactly. That Thompson kid did throw a lot last year but that's because they were always behind or in a dog fight. They had no choice. Spurrier has adjusted his offensive strategy in old age.
