Dude, Callaway High School in Jackson could have beat us by 2 TDs last year. THIS is 2015.

What's a continuation is those su players constantly flunking out and folks making excuses for them, yet they claim HBCU's are good for it's players. Well....not if they're constantly flunking out.

No we are not. Lol. Bryan Anderson is the only one that was a serious contributor. But we get Danny Brown and Anthony Mosely back that sat out last year. We are fine and even the four have an appeals process to go through so they may be back as well.

It's a similar setup to the Colorado River in Austin. Ain't no dams nowhere near Southern that would control the Mississippi like that.

Also, you'd definitely have to worry about erosion or sinking if you build really close to the river. There are spots on the campus where there is bedrock while there are others that aren't.

Sounds like y'all need to invest in installing some slurry walls to protect the buildings long-term.

That's only because the jsu alum occupying the HC job at TSU is incompetent. With just a half descent coach TSU would have laid an L on paw paw.
Must have been a jsu thang, one jsu man hooking up another.
The jsu and pb games TSU should have won but our coaching let us down.

Remember jsu pulled it out in the end due to dumb incompetent coaching on the TSU side line. 15-10

Depends on the building and location. The only buildings that I know of on the campus that are somewhat at risk are the historic buildings near Mayberry and the Administration building (current ROTC buildings). They're pretty much where the creek that forms the ravine system that goes through the campus empties into the river ... and like right now, the river backwashes into the ravines during high-water events.

When I was in school, the feds actually did some erosion mitigation work in that area.

Why? There are no new buildings by the river. All the buildings have been there a minimum of 30 years. That's long term. The engineering is sound. That's why the Corps knows what would happen if they were to dig that deep while the river is high.

All of that analysis is done well before the project is approved.

For future growth or renovations it is prudent to refortify the integrity of the surrounding foundations/structure. The added benefit would also be eliminating this Mississippi River prerequisite height for construction work. It's just good engineering practice. The USACE will tell you what your options are, not what you can/can't build. I'm sure a slurry wall was a design option 30 years ago when all those buildings went up, but probably not the most economical approach. Who's to say in the future during some expansion or renovation work that SU chooses to do something like this?

Any future building on the campus is going away from the river and onto currently unused/underutilized land on the campus. Now in the future, our historical buildings (the chapel where Smith/Brown was killed and the ROTC building) may have future mitigation work due to their location on the the Bluff/near the ravines. However, I doubt any new buildings of importance will be near the river.

Who's making excuses? Not me! For those players on a full ride, there's no excuse why you're not going to class, doing your classwork, homework and then you have all the assistance you need to pass. That's a willingness issue.

Same thing I told my sons.

PS....almost every school has some sort of academic casualties. Even if your school has 1 or 2.....

One does not equal to three or more casualties so please lets not try and lump those in with chronic casualties. su players should've learned from what happened last year and year before that when players were deemed ineligible.
