Will the Alcorn vs. JSU Game FINALLY have a Significance in 2015?

See, I use to get caught up in the Alcorn vs. JSU games...........

The Alcorn vs. JSU game had become boring. You basically already know who is going to the Championship Game and who is not. The game basically has not sponsors. And plus, I don't get that same rivalry vibe.

I think Alcorn and JSU should play right in the Middle of the Season (or do like TXSU and PV do their rivalry game). Then Alcorn and JSU can play SU and Grambling respectfully toward the end of the season.

I think now is the opportunity to really push the game because Ole Piss and Shitissippi State will always cancel each other out. They will never be SEC West Champion again.

Well respect is one thing, and the overall series is another. I never said "try to earn their respect", I just said go on a streak so y'all hush things down a bit.

As for the woulda coulda shoulda about the game,(in which I usually pull for Alcorn), Jackson State is in overall command. Hate or like it.

Lastly, you Alcorn folks really have gotten our your classy character since winning the title. I sure hope Valley folks don't start acting like they never been to Disneyland before when the start winning.

Good post.

I can't understand why some (not all) Alcorn fans have allowed themselves to believe that their 2014 team was one of the best things the HBCU world has seen. I do feel that they were a good team, but they lost to Grambling and Jackson State. No offense to Grambling because Grambling is Grambling, but the top SWAC Championship teams of any era don't lose to programs coming off back to back horrible years. You can look that up if you don't believe me. Jackson State went through the new system blues and rough days, but they found a way to show Alcorn that they are still located in the state capital.

I also agree that losing to your arch rival will always leave a deep scratch in your conference championship ring. I have seen both Jackson State and Alcorn play the rivalry game safe because they knew that they were in the title game. That is a complete slap in the face to what college football is all about. Go ask Michigan-Ohio State, Ole Miss-MSU, Army-Navy, Colorado-CSU, Florida-FSU, Harvard-Yale, Texas-OU and any other arch rivals if they would play the game safe just because the have clinched a spot in the title game. At least Jackson State fans were calling for Comegy's head after they felt he eased up on Alcorn in 2013.

Moreso than that, Alcorn went thru the backdoor for the BCF National Championship.

What teams have been either winning that award or have been in the running for that award in the last 10 years?

1. TNState
2. SCState
3. BCU
4. Tuskegee
5. Jackson State
6. Grambling

NONE of those team were a real factor in 2014. Alcorn barely broke the top 5 until all of the top programs fell off.

We stay classy & will always be because we are Alcorn. That's bred in us, but to the victor goes the spoils & we are that victor. So we will talk some trash 'hate it or love it'.

Honestly in our opinion, the team is ahead of schedule. This is the year we expected them to actually win the ship not last year. So there is still much room for improvement, the team knows that. From a X's & O's standpoint...Look we aren't bragging we are looking at things objectively. We won the SWAC in pretty dominant fashion without even being able to go over the top of defenses last year. Just imagine what Alcorn will be capable of if we start hitting 2 or 3 deep passes routinely.

And don't mention us with the likes of Valley either they haven't accomplished what Alcorn has in the SWAC.

As for the JSU game, sure we want to beat them but it isn't our main priority unless we have to go through them. Alcorn is trying to win ships & maintain a healthy diet of being competitive. Beating Jackson State is no big deal. People have forgotten that we went in their home & put 31points on the board before halftime, they only had 7.

Wow. Yeah, the power has gone to your head. Speaking from a program that has plenty more SWAC Championships and National Championships than Alcorn, an arch rival is an arch rival on any day of the week. Season records and tomorrow's title game doesn't matter on game day. A Conference Title is sweeter when you beatyour arch rival.

I know that you aren't use to being a SWAC Champion, but 2 conference losses to a 7-5 and 5-7 take away the dominance factor. Although it's not a bad thing, I watched Alcorn do a great job of intimidating teams as well.

Lastly, winning a title in 3 years with a sound coach like Hopson is not being ahead of schedule. Alcorn has some talent to work with upon his arrival. I called the title run on this board the day Hopson was hired because I knew that he was going to bring Alcorn some good recruiting ties. I knew that Alcorn was going to be a factor in the East as soon as he put his players in the mix.

Good luck to the Braves once again, but y'all are riding the unicorn a bit too high.

Preach my brother. I remember jumping on my own G-Men in 2002 for getting smashed by SU and talking about beating SU ain't getting us a ring. Then when it came down to beating them to get in the title game the very next year, we lost by 3.

I haven't seen an impressive championship run yet. Why? Because the playing field is almost even amongst swac schools. No matter how good you think your team is, anybody can come in your stadium and put a foot up your ass. The SWAC as a whole should have 5-6 championship caliber teams every year. Not 2-3. That's not really competitive.

Nothing has gone to my head, I'm very much aware of Alcorn history and our contributions to the conference. There is no unicorn. We won the SWAC early from an x & o standpoint. We averaged 44pts with no type of deep threat passing game. We had glaring weaknesses and still won soundly.

We still can greatly improve. I am somewhat concerned about our defense since we lost some starters.

If the team doesn't rest on their laurels and continues on a upward trajectory, we have a good chance to repeat

Alcorn isn't even worth our attention. After all Ivy shredded their defense and they return the same sorry secondary they had last yr so we should be a 21 pt favorite vs them this yr. Do I need to post Ivys stats in 3 qtrs vs Alcorn again to clarify my point?
Post them. I think they might need to see them. Some times people forget.

I repeat, if you're referring to SWAC titles, we have 1 plus 16 which equals to 17 titles. The SWAC didn't start in 1999.
