Listen: SWAC’s Sharp Talks Celebration Bowl, 7-Game Conference Schedule & APR

If you're going to allow playing SWAC schools that aren't counted towards conference honors ... then why in the hell you go away from the 9-game conference schedule to begin with?

I agree, Sad. The only thing black folks know how to run is their mouths! SEC conference send help!

To Gain Solidarity with Our Scheduling........I say the SWAC Should impose a Monetary Penalty for scheduling below the FCS level.

Understand, you can still schedule below the FCS Level if you want to . But to play those teams below FCS, you just have to pay a monetary penalty.......aka an Admission Fee LMAO!!! That would be Perfect.

BH123,
I have mentioned before that teams that schedule below D1 need to be fined at least $25K. If the D2 is in the top 15, etc.. I could see an exception being made.

Also, these $$ games, if you schedule them, the money needs to go to the SWAC office to be divided among the SWAC office and all member schools at the end of the year. :)

D2 is D2, rather National Champion or Scrub. The Penalty should be for ALL opponents.

This seven game mandate has to be good news for schools like AAMU and Bama State. They can now "backdoor" (thanks TP) their way into the SCG whenever they don't have to play both su and Grambling.:smh:
by the same token, "this seven game mandate has to be good news for a school like JSU. Yall can now "backdoor" (thanks TP) your way into the SCG whenever you don't have to play both SU and Grambling."
only difference is when they kick yall the first time, you can just say it didn't count.
smh

When the NCAA finish with Bama State, you may not have a door to kick.:snicker:

Also, that part about NEVER is not true. In one of the phases of the 7 game format, you all could not get good teams on the schedule. I recall I used to always tease you all that you could not get a MEAC team to play you. Seems you all were playing D2s becasue you were not getting $$ games back then.

TP you are lying... we NEVER had a problem.... and have NEVER had weak schedule.... We played 2 D2s CAU and Central State, and Tuskegee for Louis Crews Classic.... we have played Troy State, Jacksonville State, Tennessee State, Hampton, SC State, A&T, Auburn, Ga Tech, Cincinatti, Coastal Carolina.... once again we don't have a problem scheduling opponents.

Tp stop lying you were lying back then...

you think just because you said it back then makes it true? Lol

not having a 7 game mandate held A&M back...and now that we have an AD with FBS experience we are making up for lost time

I was talking about Mississippi College in Clinton, MS

He didn't get that. Went right over his head...

kill that... we have NEVER had a problem filling a schedule.... last year it was UAB, A&T and Tuskegee..... this year it is Cincinatti and Coastal Carolina... next year its Auburn and South Alabama.

Two of those "Big 3" had sub D2 schools on the schedule last year (a # of us had them on our schedule) with the 9 game mandate. This year almost every SWAC school stepped it up with improved scheduling and I would like to have faith that we can continue this next year as well. But let's see what happens when 2017 and beyond rolls around. If you schedule a SWAC school as an OOC game as well as 1-2 sub D2 schools, that is the epitome of lazy scheduling. You can't complain about "improving the quality of SWAC play"/complain about how bad the SWAC is when you get the chance of 4 (or 5) OOC games and go that route

I like the balance of AAMU's OOC games this year and next (like I like ours)

JSU fans kill me. We have never had problems scheduling. If memory serves me correctly, we have never played Virginia lyncburg, Concordia, or college of faith, and etc lately, unlike you all. Boy, you all forget very easily!!!!

Maybe so BUT we don't know what that feels like...

We didn't have trouble scheduling. Even starting with Paul Quinn.. that was ALL COMEGY. Comegy got Braddy to schedule cream puffs. The ADs before that never did. This is about lazy scheduling... and no one said JSU was not guilty of it...

Im talking about when you first entered the SWAC. and again, I con't call these "come to my place and let kick yo azz games", good scheduling. I have no reason to LIE on AAMU. smh

Package up those OOC games and sell them to the highest bidder (promoter). I'd love to see SU and JSU in the SuperDome again. How about Grambling and Alcorn in Shreveport? Or Valley/ UAPB in Little Rock or St. Louis?

This is a great opportunity for our schools. 7 conference games. 2 classics with a SWAC/ MEAC/TN State. And you get to schedule an SLC or Ohio Valley team. AND a D2 or FBS school if you so choose. Not to mention the years you can play 12 games. Any SWAC program can be successful with this format. It's for the best.
You're probably alone with that thought. lol

It would be a mess for other schools except JSU, GSU, and SU. As long as the rules are ENFORCED....now as far as enforcement I'm with you.

What rules?

You already got them to rule that you can schedule eachother as ooc games, so there are no rules to be enforced.

STOP BLAMING THE SO-CALLED BIG THREE. What is stopping YOUR ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT from PLANNING AHEAD and already having your FCS Opponents lined up for later seasons?

Why can't the "so-called big three" be on the same plane as everyone else and not have a backdoor ooc schedule with conference members in later seasons too.

You would never get those schools to agree to anything like that. Why would they, I wouldn;t. It's stupid to agree to fine yourself when others get a pass since they schedule conference member schools as ooc contest.

Also, these $$ games, if you schedule them, the money needs to go to the SWAC office to be divided among the SWAC office and all member schools at the end of the year. :)

Why would a school give money to the Swac office to share when the Swac office didn't negotiate these money games and don't deserve any of the money.

Swac schools have no shortage of opponents as I can tell you schools email all the time for home and home series

The issue is it may be a school ways away but there are options

However, a lot of fcs schools wait to schedule as they want the money games also

ummm jayrob,
Two teams from the same division can't play twice in the same year. (although last season, we did beat yall twice in one day) :snicker:

He didn't get that. Went right over his head...
In his defense, I forgot about Miss College moving back up to D2 last year myself. Would not put them back in the same league they were before. MISS College has a long way to go just to get back to where they were ........ on Delta States or UNA Level. SWAC schools would slaughter Miss College across the board right now.
