The controversy began early Saturday afternoon, when Trump, speaking at a question-and-answer session at the Family Leadership Summit in Ames, Iowa, commented on McCain, with whom he's recently feuded over illegal immigration.

"He is not a war hero," Trump told pollster Frank Luntz, who was hosting the session.

"He is a war hero," Luntz interjected.

"He is a war hero because he was captured," Trump said, cutting him off. "I like people that weren't captured, OK? I hate to tell you. He is a war hero because he was captured. OK, you can have -- I believe perhaps he is a war hero."

McCain, a Naval aviator, was shot down in 1967 over North Vietnam and fractured both arms and legs after being ejected from his aircraft. He was repeatedly tortured during his stay in the notorious "Hanoi Hilton" --and refused early release when the North Vietnamese learned his father was a Navy admiral -- until he finally returned home in 1973 following the Paris Peace Accords.

Wow, but people loved him when he "spoke his mind" about the Mexicans. Speaks volumes about the type of people the Republicans serve when he is the leading candidate for them right now. I know Hillary and Bernie Sanders are licking their chops hoping he wins the Republican nomination. lol

Since the Nixon and Reagan era, Donald is reminding the Republicans who they really are. Basically the party that cater to racist white Americans.
 
Trump is right on McCain. McCain is not immune to attacks, he has attacked everyone he chooses to. People just want to hear the truth from the Presidential candidates and not scripted responses written by speech writers.

Sorry you guys but my father was in the Hanoi Hilton and the stories he shared with me his last month on this earth were something that I will never forget.

To me it's not about politics on this issue. Every man or woman that takes that military oath is a hero to me. More importantly any woman or man who is captured in combat or non-combat deserves more than some idiot billionaire who used his influence to get out of it to be called anything but a hero.

On the political side of it.....Hillary should be jumping for joy!!!

There are many things you can attack McCain about, but you choose to attack his service in the military?

They even tried to attacked Colin Powell for supporting President Obama after Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld basically told the man to sit his Black ass down for him trying to minimize the number of casualties in the Iraq War when he was Secretary of State. IMO, the Republicans are the biggest anti-USA military people in this country. They don't mind starting wars with other people children, as long as their children don't have to fight.

You're right! One thing I'll give McCain is that he really didn't engage in the swift boat campaign against Kerry and he was correcting folks at town halls that called Pres. Obama a muslim and an Arab. I don't agree with what Trump said but the repubs need to tread lightly.
 
Also, IMO if they elected someone like Ole Piyush, which I doubt it, he would start wars with the US military just to help his parents country (India) out economically. IMO, Ole Piyush has a hidden agenda that most people, particular Republicans are overlooking.

You're right. He tries to fit in with them but behind the scenes he's letting his folks in on business contracts for the state and everything. The republicans are aware that's why he doesn't have a chance in hell to even get a chance to debate.

IMO, Jindal is like that the dude that just recently killed the military folks in Tennessee. As shown on the news, people that knew him in school said he was just as American as anyone else especially after 9/11, but some for strange reason he changed his loyalty when he came back from his parents home country (Jordan). The difference in him and Jindal, Jindal is a Christian convert, but I do believe his parents are still Hindu. If Jindal really wanted to be White, he would have married some White girl from Louisiana. Like the Muslim dude in Tennessee, Jindal figured out early in his life that a person of foreign decent pretending to be White could rise a lot faster in this country with very little resistant. Racist White people are the main reason why this country is in a state of confusion when it comes to identifying those who want to commit an act terror against ordinary Americans.
 
Jindal is a fake. I remember meeting him when he and my cousin were in college and were USA Today scholars. Dude was trying to "fit in" at that time with the black people. He is using what he feels his best bet to get in the White House (which will never happen).

As far as president using military might as a tool for helping their partners prior to Vietnam during the Korean Conflict it showed how these selfish people utilized American lives as a sacrifice for money.

It's their own fault. They were dumb enough to support him on that birthed mess, so now they have to deal with him. Once they realize how to walk away from the racist elements in their party, then maybe they could win back the White House. Individuals like Mitt Romney and John McCain look awkward as Republicans. Even Romney tried to secretly give them what they wanted (47% comment) to help his chances when he ran for President. IMO, Romney would not have been a bad President.

What's funny to me, the Republican Party has always created attack dogs to attack others but somehow those same attack dogs eventually turns on them. What Donald Trump is doing is no different than what Alan Keyes did to them in a previous Presidential elections. This was the funniest Republican debate that I love watching over and over again. Alan Keyes acted a donkey at this debate:
