FAMU to the SWAC?

Well that would depend on who the 2nd added team would be of course. If we added another Eastern team I am sure Jackson State would volunteer to move to the West so they could play SU and Grambling every year and have Alcorn as their permanent opponent from the East.

Non-rev sports. :( Volleyball, baseball, softball, soccer, bowling, tennis, golf, et al.

What about those sports outside of football? Budget busters.

IMHO, FAMU leaves and the MEAC would be a wreck. The only other teams I respect from the MEAC is NC A&T, South Carolina State and BCU as football playing schools. If FAMU was to make a move, I'm sure BCU if not attached to their hip would be right behind them. This would be good for the SWAC and a dagger in the MEAC's heart......Formatting would be easy

FAMU & BCC SWAC East
Alcorn State SWAC West

Perhaps the East would then become a little more competitive in terms of winning the SCG:

SWAC West 11 (12 if sTu wouldn't have been stripped)
SWAC EAST 04

I believe bowling, tennis, and golf are sports that are normally played at some centralized tournament location, whereas the other sports are played at the different conference schools throughout the season. At least basketball, volleyball, baseball, softball, and soccer don't have that many members on a team and normally the band doesn't travel with them, therefore the travel expense for those sports should be at a minimal increase. Football will always be the most costly sport when it comes to travel expenses.

Our athletics programs are highly subsidized. Those non-rev sports travel are budget busters for PVAMU. Also, we're historical APR vialators so I think our kids need to spend as less time possible on the road for travel to competitions.

You all would be kind of like Texas A&M and the Univ. Florida very seldom facing one another (less the money....LOL )

People are trying to make this difficult on Facebook wanting to move Valley to the West. Every time this has come up on here it's always been Alcorn that gets mentioned in moving to the West (and it makes sense).

If BC left with FAMU and/or SCSU ended up dropping football/going down to D2 the MEAC would definitely take a major hit. Heck just FAMU leaving would be a big time body shot

Geographically speaks, SU and Alcorn are basically on the same longitude. Google Earth's longitude for SU is 91°11'29.35"W and Google Earth's longitude for Alcorn is 91° 8'13.59"W. SU is just slightly more west than Alcorn.

If we go to division play in all sports, like baseball, those teams won't have to travel.
 



I agree FAMU needs to clean their APR ISSUES, FIRST..........

IF FAMU LEAVES I see BCU leaving,....maybe NOT immediately, but soon after..
 
The addition of FAMU and/or TnSU would set the swac in good standing for atleast 15 more years. The new 7 game mandate plus the addition of a new productive football program brings a lot of excitement to the swac once again. I was in many ways thinking about how the swac could bring something interesting to the table because it was kind of getting boring besides a game with JSU,SU, GSU or Alcorn. Other than that it's over with. But FAMU would bring a great deal of curiosity each year with there football program, fans, and even traveling to Tallahassee which is not bad being that I live in Mississippi because most swac schools cities are slightly not worth nightlife right after the game but Tallahassee adds a new destination for tigerland and jaguar nation to invade so I'm support this move (FAMU and/or TnSU); you are welcomed welcomed welcomed . Since SU and FAMU have such great rivalry, with FAMU being in the swac it's possible that game might become HBCU biggest game. Last time su played FAMU there were an attendance number of atleast 50,000 in Atlanta and I'm sure JSU and Grambling versus FAMU would build themselves back up to a great and well attended game. But if FAMU does come to swac I'm not sure about the swac/ meac challenge and or the celebration bowl anymore. Without FAMU and the instability of SCSU its anybody guess on the future of the meac. I personally never saw much excitement between the meac and swac unless it was Su v FAMU, famu v JSU, Grambling v BCC , and JSU vs Hampton was fair but that's about it.

Remember in those sports like baseball, the East and West teams don't play each other as conference games.
