Mobile's Gulf Coast Classic.....dead and gone?

[JayThomas]

I know this used to be Ala. State's annual classic in Mobile. Since they pulled out back in 2008/2009, seems like I recall an attempt to schedule Tuskegee vs. Texas Southern but it never came to pass.
So this one is dead and gone, never to be revived again?

We played Tuskegee there during the 2010 season under JCole. It was hot as hell at that game!

Was that the same year, Texas Southern won the SWAC Championship?

Yes it was.

SU played in the GCC multiple times. Really miss that trip.

Yes is the answer to your question.

But SU wasn't getting paid on time or something like that? And that's the reason why SU left

When dumb azz Lefleur was our AD, he signed a jacked up contract. I think they eventually paid SU most of the money.

I went to that game once. We won but I still hated going down there. It wasn't memorable enough to be considered a "classic". Glad it's dead & gone.
