Football reinstated... @ UAB

Who care? certainly not me. I only support one Alabama school! Let Normals light shine for ever!

I feel you, but UAB is a frenemy. anybody univ of alabama hates... I love. Go Blazers!! would love to see alabama state in position to take advantage of uab leaving C-USA but you know the hornets can't get out of their own way. level 3 penalties, no post-season. the last coach w/o some type of "public" controversy was houston markam. do you know how long its been since he was on campus?
works out anyway. uab isn't leaving c-usa and the hornets wont be playing after thanksgiving.

They have fixed up UAB..... this use to be nothing but parking lots...

C-USA gets a good 5 times more bowl money than the Sun Belt. They will do all they can to stay in C-USA.
I understand that, but the I have always been one to focus on the state of the program over "chances" on money. I feel the same way about Tulane in the American instead of C-USA.

I feel that the only way to grow as a program is to become a power house in the division that gives you a chance to be a city box office hit. UAB is a C-USA team, but they have struggled tremendously. They don't win games, and they don't make bowl appearances. So why focus on what the C-USA has to offer if you can't benefit from it?

If UAB were in the Sun Belt, they would have a better chance of winning on a regular basis. Maybe not every year, but a college in Birmingham would definitely be able to recruit enough skilled players to go to more than 1 bowl game in a Sun Belt decade. They also would have more _sses in the seats. Why? Because they would have more close rivalries between Troy, South Alabama and even Georgia State. Fans from ULL, ULM and Arkansas State would definitely drive to Birmingham for the weekend before teams like Old Dominion, UTSA, Rice, Marshall and Charlotte. Also, UAB's enrollment is more on the Sun Belt lines.

One of my former GSU classmates from Birmingham used to compare UAB and Tulane all of the time. Two programs who's administrations are not ready for the division they are in and continue to make horrible decision. Tulane has moved to the American citing better recruits, more bowl games, more money, more TV time and better attendance, but this past season, there new stadium quickly started looking as dead as their hone games in the Superdome. They didn't make a bowl game and were out recruited by ULL, ULM and Louisiana Tech.

So do you think Vandy would leave the SEC so they can win more? Nope. Money matters more than wins in some cases. POSSIBLY winning the Sun Belt means a lot less than DEFINITELY making more money.

Same with Tulane. They get much much more money in the American than in CUSA.

The same with good FCS programs who become loser FBS programs. The money and association with the "big league" is better than the wins.

Their program was on the rise the last 2 or 3 years. That's what made so many of their supporters/students so upset. Why kill a growing entity?

Paul Bryant Jr. wanted that program completely off the books.

UAB was a dumpster fire before last year. Not sure where the whole 2 or 3 years thing comes from.

All those death threats the president got... He couldnt even attend UAB basketball games..... He just set UAB football program back YEARS... and he will still probably have to step down.

Ray Watts isnt going anywhere unless the board of trustees say so and they love him. Ray Watts is only a figure head. Carol Garrison was the president before him and the BOT got rid of her because she brought ideas such as the new stadium and facility upgrades for UAB.

UAB just pulled some crackish behavior with that move! Why kill the program then bring it back 6 months later?

Because the UA Board of Trustees have been trying to kill the UAB football program since it started. They've blocked donations and everything else to hurt the program. The board honestly thought that they could get away with it. They has no idea that the media and public would catch on to the corruption that has been going on with the BOT and UAB football. This is the same BOT that killed UAH hockey a few years ago and brought it back.
