The 7-Game Mandate Thread Proves The SWAC Needs To Add Two More Teams.

The Clown Prince of Crime
It is obvious we need to add two more teams as members to the conference. Who those two new members are is anybody's guess. But we need 12 Members in the conference.

I agree but if we do we might want to consider putting a plan in place to move the confence as a whole up to FBS.

I really don't think we need to go FBS because HBCU Football is its own brand and market. We just have to open those lines of Communication with the other HBCUs and maybe we can make something happen. There is a reason even after integration, the 90s was HBCU Football's Peak. Being successful doesn't always mean taking a big lump sum of money at one time but having a CONSISTENT positive cash flow.

Obviously FAMU would be Target #1 due to their proximity. Plus, FAMU has a lot of history with the SWAC. I keep pushing Howard because Southwest Airlines is in my opinion the #1 Low-Cost Carrier in the U.S. I know for a fact Southwest Airlines has direct flights from Reagan (DCA) and Baltimore-Washington International (BWI). Plus, Baggage is currently free on Southwest Airlines.

Then are the Tigers in Nashville but I doubt they would interested at this point in time of joining the SWAC. If we can good business relationships with Companies, it is possible for Howard to be a SWAC Member. We just need two more teams.

True but we would get more exposure and more money for the schools. At the very least we could be similar financially to the MAC or Sun Belt. My choice for the two additions would be between FAMU, Tennessee State and Bethune-Cookman. I think the financial incentive may convince the other TSU to join but if not bring in BCU as a back up. And adding the Florida Classic would benefit the SWAC.

TSU & FAMU are the only schools even worthy to be in the SWAC anyway. Maybe BCU, SCSU & NCAT too but I doubt they'd even think about it. All these other schools are a definite no. Especially Howard.

Athletics is not a priority in our lives. In addition, the fans who attend our games do not feel appreciated. Therefore, it would not matter how many teams are in the conference.

What HBCUs need to is learn how to get Alumni back. We need to stop with the bull shyt and engage our alumni. Bottom line without our alumni we continue to fail. We will never get 100% percent back, but if we could get 50% it would turn the tables.

Braveheart, obviously you are wasting your time discussing HBCU sports.

You need to be helping the federal government solve our issues across the world.

All that thread proved is that I hope SWAC HQ doesn't have a similar mindset as some on here because we will back to the 9 game mandate real quick

I wish I did work for the Federal Government. Private sector though has its own perks. If we as HBCUs can build more Athletic relationships with companies, we could really be back in business throttle.

Example: Southwest Airlines. They want customers. We could possibly have them sponsor one of our games.

The Key for HBCU Athletics is to become More Up To Date....Without losing our Identity.

The 7 game mandate can work if we just have rules and checks/balances.

I keep bringing this up...Howard didn't let their Women's Soccer Program join the SWAC for just any reason.

Like the Southwest Airlines State Fair Classic?

You saw how meac fans showed their asses with announcement of celebration bowl but you want to extend an invite? Lmao

It depends on which MEAC demographic you are referring to. The Public MEAC Schools for the most part differ from the Private MEAC Schools. The Private MEAC Schools pretty much are currently in the backseat to the Public MEAC Schools when it comes to Football.

Football Attendence Wise, FAMU runs the MEAC. They are followed by NC A&T and I'll throw in SC State. However, the private HBCUs from strictly an ACADEMIC standpoint are the ones with the money. Athletically, FAMU would more than likely welcome SWAC Games (I believe 2014 was the First time in 25 years FAMU brought the Marching 100 to DC (Howard) for a Football Game).

But I am no dummy: Sometimes, the problem is not that you are bringing in two teams to join, it is WHO you ask to join.

Bringing in FAMU would rattle (LMAO) some folks in the SWAC because of the "Superiority Complex". They should just get over it. Competition Breeds Improvement.
